RG-1000e firmware upgrade guide

ThisdocumentdescribeshowtoperformRG1000efirmwareupgrade.Stepsbelowrefertofirmware2.0and
CPSR2.0.YoushouldusethesameconsequenceofstepstoupdateRG1000ewithanotherfirmwarerelease.

WhatisneededtoupgradeRG1000ewithfirmware2.0:
RG1000eCPSR2.0;
RG1000e firmware files, RG1000e2v00.bin and RG1000e2v00.rom (or M3002v00.bin and M300
2v00.rom;
USBcableAminiB;
anexternalpowersupply1214VDC,0.5A;
adesktopPCoralaptopworksunderWin7\8\8.1\10OS.

Attention!
ForupgradeRG1000ewithfirmware2.0youmustuseonlyCPSR2.*.*.UsinganotherCPSreleasessuch
asR1.*.*orR3.*.*corruptsfirmwaredata,andastheresultRG1000eshouldbereturnedtoaservice
depotforrecovering.
ToperformfirmwareupgradeyoushoulddisconnectRG1000efromadonorradioandconnecttheunit
toanexternalpowersupplyviaPowersocket(formoredetailedinfoseeRG1000eUserGuidechapter
4.3).

1. LocateCPSRG1000e2.0intoadesirablefolderonyourdesktopPC(orlaptop)andrunit.
IfitisthefirsttimewhenyourunCPSRG1000eonthePCyoushouldinstallRG1000edriver(formore
detailedinfoseeCPSRG1000eUserGuidechapter1).OnceCPSisrunning,youseetheprogramstart
window.

2. CreatenewRG1000econfiguration,thetopprogrammenuFile>CreateandclickYesbuttoninthepop
upwindow.

Intheprogramreportswindowyouseenewmessagesthatanewconfigurationiscreatedanddownloaded.In
addition,youseetheleftcolumnmenuhasappeared.

3. TurnCPSintoUpgrademode,thetopprogrammenuOptions>Service,typeUpgrade_ServiceinService
codegapandclickEnter.

In the program reports window you may see additional doubled message that a new configuration is
downloaded.

4. ConnectaRG1000etothePC andturnonpower.

CheckGetawayRG1000econnectedtoUSBbusmessageisappearedintheprogramreportswindow.

5. CheckthatUpgrademodehasstartedproperly.Navigatetotheleftcolumnmenu,andopenTasks
section.Youshouldseefourlines:Read,Write,DownloadDSPfirmware,DownloadMCUfirmware.

6. UpdateDSPfirmware.DoubleclickintheleftcolumnmenuDownloadDSPfirmware,selectDSP
firmwarefileRG1000e2v00.rom(orM3002v00.rom)andclickOpen.

Downloadingprocessstartsautomatically.Donotinterrupttheprocess!DonotdisconnecttheRG1000eform
thePC!

Once DSP firmware is downloaded the firmwareverifying process starts automatically. If DSP firmware is
downloadedwithouterrors,youseethemessageDatavalidationisperformed.Wrong0bytesintheprogram
reportswindow.DonotdisconnecttheRG1000efromthePC.

If you seemessagesthatsomeerrors are detectedyou shouldpowerofftheRG1000e,disconnecttheRG
1000efromthePC,closeCPSRG1000eandstartupgradeprocessfromp1.Ifthefifthattemptisnotsuccessful,
youshouldcontactSmartPTTTechSupportaboutproperactions.

7. WritenewRG1000econfiguration,theleftcolumnmenu,intheleftcolumnmenuTasks>Writeand
programnewRG1000econfiguration.

IfnewRG1000econfigurationiswrittenwithouterrors,youseethemessageDatavalidationisperformed.
Wrong0bytesintheprogramreportswindow.DonotdisconnecttheRG1000efromthePC.

8. UpdateMCUfirmware.Doubleclick,intheleftcolumnmenuDownloadMCUfirmware,selectMCU
firmwarefileRG1000e2v00.bin(orM3002v00.bin)andclickOpen.

Downloadingprocessstartsautomatically.Do not interrupt the process! Do not disconnect the RG-1000e form
the PC!

OnceMCUfirmwareisdownloaded, thefirmwareverifyingprocessstartsautomatically. If MCUfirmwareis

downloadedwithouterrors,youseethemessageDatavalidationcompletedintheprogramreportswindow.

If you seemessagesthatsomeerrors are detectedyou shouldpowerofftheRG1000e,disconnecttheRG

1000efromthePC,closeCPSRG1000eandstartupgradeprocessfromp1.Ifthefifthattemptisnotsuccessful,
youshouldcontactSmartPTTTechSupportaboutproperactions.

9. PowerofftheRG1000e.TurnCPSRG1000eintoCustomermode:thetopprogrammenu,Option>
Custom.

10. PowerontheRG1000e.ReadtheRG1000e.Navigatetotheleftcolumnmenu.OpenInfosection.You
shouldseeMCUFW2.0.0andDSPFW2.0.0.
