Let me talk to you not just by saying mere words. let me

talk to you not by saying well-defined phrases, but let me talk
to you heart to heart about the role of Reserve Officer Training
Corps (ROTC) in developing the youth as responsible, competent
and patriotic leaders of tomorrow.

It is difficult, if not impossible to define what a leader

is...A leader possibly a politician who led his constituents...a
preacher who teaches us learning from God, or a shepherd who
directs a flock of sheep into a place for food. No matter what
implications we draw to describe a leader, there must be one
common factor in all of them.

A leader must posses¶ qualities and traits in the real

essence of the word. He must have knowledge, courage, integrity,
loyalty, good judgment and the most of all discipline.
Now that we are living in the modern and sophisticated
society of the 21st century, were traditions and customs seemed
to be a meaningless heritage of the past. Violence, terrorism,
and illegal vices surround us and the most alarming of the
problem is the fact that numbers of youth offenders were
increasing, they are disobeying their elders and discipline is
said to be out of the act. What would be the sense of our
National Hero¶s saying that;

! " if they will only be influenced by communism and
wrong idealism.

Discipline is relative ± that is, they differ among people.

What one person consider valuable another may not. People,
mostly those in the service of the people place discipline in
their works and everyday living, other people for a variety of
reasons. The c
 #c $, one of the
branches of the % & #%&$ of the
government was one of the institutions that consider discipline
as the most important of all. In ROTC, youth acquire skills and
leadership competence to emphasize values and discipline for the
improvement of the community and the country they are living
with.
The knowledge gain in ROTC boost the morale of not only the
youth who undergone the training but also the fellow patriotic
Filipinos to undergo a major surgery, to make necessary
sacrifices and return to the virtues of honesty, loyalty, self-
reliance, and responsibility to the community and the nation at
large.

The institution never stop in minimizing the youth¶s

weaknesses while strengthening their virtues, the sense of
patriotism, love of country, a strong national character and
mostly discipline among them, which will be their ultimate and
mightiest weapon in this battle called life.

Thank you to ROTC and the service dedicated people behind

this institution for looking forward in healing and changing the
youth before it¶s too late. Lastly I want to give the credit to
our National Hero Jose Rizal, for believing that the hope of our
nation lies within the youth...the leaders of tomorrow.
