Dear Human Resources:

After enrolling in ASUs Technology Literacy: Problem Solving using Digital Technology
Applications course (EDT 180), I have been prompted to find a job opening related to my
chosen career path after graduation, ESL Teaching. I discovered the job opening of the SEI
Teacher position at Holoway Elementary School on the Arizona Education Employment Board
website. This position fits my chosen path of ESL teaching and is important for foreign-language
speakers so they can be comfortable and academic and social settings by learning English at an
accelerated rate. Secondly, my being bilingual in English and Spanish will help me communicate
with the large number of Spanish-speakers in the ESL classroom.

After reviewing Holoway Elementary Schools website, it is clear to me that the Principal and
Staff are working together to focus on the Guiding Principles of learning, environment, school-
home-community relations, and leadership. I believe I would be an asset to the team to assist
with upholding the Mission and Principles. My educational background gives me the foundation
for being a great SEI teacher; I completed my Bachelors in Educational Studies and my Masters
in ESL Teaching at Arizona State University. My previous experience with observing ESL
students has helped me develop lesson plans that are rigorous to get students graduated on-
time.

According to the Amphitheater Schools website, an elementary teaching certificate is required

along with a Structured English Immersion or English as a Second Language endorsement or
Spanish Bilingual approved area. I have obtained both of these required certifications and am
ready to impact the English skills of ESL students. In addition, my previous experience in
management has provided me with the knowledge of multi-tasking and developing a team of
people with many different learning styles, similar to teaching students and developing their
language skills. This experience will support the schools guiding principle of providing
differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
Holoway Elementary School is a school that is utilizing its best practices to drive curriculum,
instruction, and assessment. With my educational background, cultural awareness, and drive, I
would be a great addition to Holoways staff and am very interested in having an interview with
