Relieving Oneself

Blessed are You HaShem,


Our God, King of the universe, Who fashioned man with wisdom and created within him
many openings and many cavities It is obvious and known before Your Throne of Glory
that if but one of them were to be ruptured or but one of them were to be blocked it would
be impossible to survive and to stand before You. Blessed are you, HaShem,
Who heals all flesh and acts wondrously.

Donning Tallit:

First blessing for the Torah
This prayer applies to all Torah studies done throughout the day and
so should only be said once a day.

BORUCH atah Adonoy


Blessed are You, HaShem, our god, King of
Elohaynu melech ha'olam,
the universe,
asher kid'shonu b'mitzvosov,
Who has sanctified us with His commandments

v'tzivonu la-asok b'divray soro


and has commanded us to engross ourselves in the words of Torah.
V'ha-arev no Adonoy Elohaynu es divray soros'cho
Please HaShem, our God, sweeten the words of Your Torah
b'finu uvfi am'cho bays yisro-ayl
in our mouth and in the mouth of Your people, the House of Israel
V'nih-ye anachnu v'tze-etzo-anyu
May we and our offspring
v'tze-etzo-ay am'cho bays yisro-ayl,
and the offspring of Your people, the House of Israel -
kulonu yod'ay sh'mecho
all of us -- know Your Name
v'lom'day sorosecho lishmoh.
and study Your Torah for its own sake.

These are the precepts
she-ayn lohem shi-ur:
that have no prescribed measure:
hapay-o v'habikurim,
the corner of a field [which must be left for the poor], the first-fruit offering,
v'hora-yon,
the pilgrimage,
ugmilus chasodim,
acts of kindness,
v'salmud toro.
and Torah study.

AYLU D'VORIM
These are the precepts whose fruits a
she-odom ochayl payrosayhem
person enjoys in this world,

but whose principal remains intact for him in the World to

V'aylu hayn: kibud ov vo-aym,
They are:
ugmilus chasodim,
the honor due to father and mother,
v'hashkomas bays hamiddrosh
acts of kindness,
shacharis v'arvis,
early attendance at the house of study morning and
v'hachnosas or'chim, uvikur
evening, hospitality to guests, visiting
cholim, v'hachnosas kalo,
the sick, providing for a bride,
ulvo-yas hamays, v'iyun t'filo,
escorting the dead,

absorption in prayer,
vahavo-as sholom bayn odom lachavayro.
bringing peace between man and his fellow.
V'salmud toro k'neged kulom.
And the study of Torah is equivalent to them all.

My God,
n'shomo shenosato bi t'horo hi.
the soul You placed within me is pure.
atah v'rosoh atah y'tzartoh,
You created it, You fashioned it, You
atah n'fachtoh bi,
breathed it into me, You safeguard it
