Learning Area: English Topic: Creative composition
Curriculum content description:

Students prior knowledge and experience:
- Students have completed a swoosh and a framed narrative

- They have done some work on using imagery and figurative language
Learning purpose:
- To assist students with the development of strategies they can use for the composition
component of their exams

Timing: Learning Experiences:
Introduction:
- Give students three words and tell them they have three minutes to write a short
piece incorporating them while the roll is being done.
Sequence:
- Hand out the approaches to writing sheet and provide students with an opportunity
to read it through and ask any questions they may have. Will need to allow some
time for discussion here as it is relevant to students assessments which will go up
on Seqta in the afternoon.
- Direct students to the writing prompts on Seqta, give them some time to choose
one and then they are to write, in a style of their choice, on any of the prompts they
select for the remainder of class.
