I. Intended Learning Outcomes:
At the end of the 5 hour period 95% of the learners are expected to:
1. Derive the formula for circumference, area, sector, and segment of a circle;
2. Apply the formula to solve problems related to circumference area, sector and segment of
a circle;
3. Exhibit organization in problem solving; and
4. Participate actively in a collaborative activity.
II. Learning Content:
1. Topic: Circumference, Area, Sector, and Segment of a Circle
2. References: Ulpina J. et.al. (2016). Math Builders 10
Quezon City: Brilliant Creations Publishing pp. 144 - 149
3. Essential Questions:
a. How do you derive formula of circumference, area, sector and segment of a circle?
b. When do you use the formula for getting the circumference, area, sector and
segment of a circle?
c. What are the real-life problems that can be solved using the formula for
circumference, area, sector and segment of a circle?
4. Enduring Understanding:
a. The formula for getting the measures of parts of circle can be derived using the given
parts such as, diameter, radius, arcs and central angles.
b. The formula for circumference, area, sector, and segment can be used to solve real
life problems that involve circles.

a. Introduction
KWL: After the teacher introduced to words related to the new lesson, the learners
will answer the What I Know and What I Want To Know entries of the KWL
Chart.
Motivation
The learners will use ruler, protractor and compass to investigate the measures of
given figures.
Discussion
The teacher will show how to derive the circumference and area of the circle using
the ancient Egyptian method.
The teacher will ask series of questions leading to derivation of formulas for
sector and segment of circle.
The teacher will show how to solve using the formulas.
b. Interaction
The learners will be grouped and each group is tasked to solve the given problems
applying the formula for circumference, area, sector and segment of circle.
The learners will present their solution and discuss it to the whole class.
The learners will answer the Group Guided Practices pg 151
c. Integration
The learners will answer three challenging situated problems. Each group is
tasked to come up with solutions applying all the formulas discussed.
The learners answers for each situated problem will be graded according to the
rubric below:
Excellent (4pts) The solution and other inputs were orderly presented.
Clarity of concepts and ideas was excellently explained
in simple sentences.
Proficient (3pts) The solution and other inputs were orderly presented.
Clarity of concept and ideas was evident.
Average (2pts) The solution and other inputs were orderly presented
but the use of some concepts and ideas was incorrect.
Below Average (1pt) The solution and other inputs were not organized and
the use of concepts and ideas was not evident.
Closure: The learners will answer the What I Learned entry on the KWL Chart.
V. Evaluation:
The students will answer Skill Booster pg. 154
