Out of Egypt: Gods Way of Salvation

Exodus 3:7-9; 12:1-13, 21-23; 14:21-28

7The LORD said, I have surely seen the affliction of My people who are in Egypt, and have given heed to
their cry because of their taskmasters, for I am aware of their sufferings. 8So I have come down to deliver
them from the power of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and spacious land,
to a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanite and the Hittite and the Amorite and
the Perizzite and the Hivite and the Jebusite. 9Now, behold, the cry of the sons of Israel has come to Me;
furthermore, I have seen the oppression with which the Egyptians are oppressing them.

1Now the LORD said to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, 2This month shall be the beginning of
months for you; it is to be the first month of the year to you. 3Speak to all the congregation of Israel,
saying, On the tenth of this month they are each one to take a lamb for themselves, according to their
fathers households, a lamb for each household.4Now if the household is too small for a lamb, then he
and his neighbor nearest to his house are to take one according to the number of persons in
them; according to what each man should eat, you are to divide the lamb. 5Your lamb shall be an
unblemished male a year old; you may take it from the sheep or from the goats. 6You shall keep it until
the fourteenth day of the same month, then the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel is to kill it at
twilight.7Moreover, they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the
lintel of the houses in which they eat it. 8They shall eat the flesh that same night, roasted with fire, and
they shall eat it with unleavened bread and bitter herbs. 9Do not eat any of it raw or boiled at all with
water, but rather roasted with fire, both its head and its legs along with its entrails. 10And you shall not
leave any of it over until morning, but whatever is left of it until morning, you shall burn with fire. 11Now
you shall eat it in this manner: with your loins girded, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your
hand; and you shall eat it in hasteit is the LORDS Passover. 12For I will go through the land of Egypt
on that night, and will strike down all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and
against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgmentsI am the LORD. 13The blood shall be a sign
for you on the houses where you live; and when I see the blood I will pass over you, and no
plague will befall you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.

21Then Moses called for all the elders of Israel and said to them, Go and take for yourselves lambs
according to your families, and slay the Passover lamb. 22You shall take a bunch of hyssop and dip it in
the blood which is in the basin, and apply some of the blood that is in the basin to the lintel and the two
doorposts; and none of you shall go outside the door of his house until morning.

23For the LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when He sees the blood on the lintel and
on the two doorposts, the LORD will pass over the door and will not allow the destroyer to come in to your
houses to smite you.

Exodus 14:21-28
21Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the L ORD swept the sea back by a strong east
wind all night and turned the sea into dry land, so the waters were divided. 22The sons of Israel went
through the midst of the sea on the dry land, and the waters were like a wall to them on their right hand
and on their left. 23Then the Egyptians took up the pursuit, and all Pharaohs horses, his chariots and his
horsemen went in after them into the midst of the sea. 24At the morning watch, the LORD looked down on
the army of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and cloud and brought the army of the Egyptians into
confusion. 25He caused their chariot wheels to swerve, and He made them drive with difficulty; so the
Egyptians said, Let us flee from Israel, for the LORD is fighting for them against the Egyptians.

26Then the LORD said to Moses, Stretch out your hand over the sea so that the waters may come back
over the Egyptians, over their chariots and their horsemen. 27So Moses stretched out his hand over the
sea, and the sea returned to its normal state at daybreak, while the Egyptians were fleeing right into it; then
the LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea. 28The waters returned and covered the chariots
and the horsemen, even Pharaohs entire army that had gone into the sea after them; not even one of them
remained.

I. Trapped in Egypt The condition and need for salvation

Egypt symbolizes the world and the world is under the control of Satan. [John 5:19]
When were not yet believers, we are under the hands of the evil one. We tend to do
things opposite to Gods way.
Not Knowing God
Lives in a Life of Sin and Pleasure
We do things according to what we want to do and that pleases us because nothing
restricts us. Nothing restrains us.
Sin: Cheating, lying, stealing, bad thoughts, anger, cursing etc.
Pleasure: [People were eating, drinking, marrying and being given in marriage up to the
day Noah entered the ark. Then the flood came and destroyed them all. Luke 17:27]
Separated from God [But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins
have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear. -Isa 59:2; For all have sinned, and
come short of the glory of God; - Romans 3:23]
Because of this separation, we are condemned to hell. [For the wages of sin is death, but
the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. -Romans 6:23; Whoever believes
and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. -Mark
16:16]
II. Gods Salvation through the Passover
Exodus 12:1-13
The Blood of the Lamb (Jesus).
The Lamb should be unblemished.
Killing the Lamb symbolically refers to our Lord Jesus dying on the cross for our sins.
take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the
houses
Means believing in the redemption of Jesus blood. Applying or accepting the His blood
into our hearts.
For the LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when He sees the blood on
the lintel and on the two doorposts, the LORD will pass over the door and will not
allow the destroyer to come in to your houses to smite you.
Means that we should all be judge or have to die due to our sins. But once we believed
in the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be spared.
therefore, what matters is whether or not our hearts have accepted the cleansing of
Jesus Christ (the Lamb). When we believe and accept the Lords precious blood, then
our sins will be forgiven.
Hebrews 9:22, without shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness.
1 John 1:9, If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive our sins and to
cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Acts 2:21, And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.'
John 1:12-13, But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become
children of God, even to those who believe in His name, who were born, not of blood
nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.
Share Jesus coming on to this world to save us sinners.
He suffered and died for our sins and on the third day He rose from the grave.
