Town Of Southold Police Department | Supplementary Report | oma Reporing Date Report Detective Division 06/25/13 CoH ~ ‘Reporting Officer: 13-2868 Joseph A. Conway Jr. # 506 On 05/27/13 the undersigned Detective contacted the current owner of the residence, Clause Carlson, and met with him at the residence. The situation was explained to Mr. Carlson who agreed to cooperate with the investigation. At that point Mr. Carlson allowed the undersigned Detective to view the basement of 1675 Lower, Road in}§outhol}. The residence is a two stary wood frame structure which faces primarily south, fronted on Lower Road. The structure was originally constructed in 1677 with several subsequent additions added to the structure. The layout of the basement was basically the same as the description provided by Judith Terry except for the fact that the portion which previously was bare soil had now been covered with concrete. On 06/05/13 the undersigned Detective, Detective Harned and Detective Edward Troyano of the SCPD responded to 1675 Lower Road with a ground penetrating radar unit to scan the basement. ‘The unit did not work properly and the scan was terminated. On 06/06/13 the undersigned Detective contacted New England Subsurface Imaging in Connecticut and spoke with the owner Vito Ruggierro. Mr. Ruggierro agreed to travel to Long Island and ‘examine the basement. ‘On 06/20/13 at 1140 hrs the undersigned Detective responded to 1675 Lower Road in Southold with Vito Ruggierro and his brother Doug Ruggierro and the conclusion of the scan, a 5 ft. by 2 ft. area below the coner: owed signs of hi previously having been disturbed. ‘At 1330 hrs the undersigned Detective contacted Det/Sgt. Edward Fandrey of the SCPD Homicide Squad. The case was discussed with Det/Sgt. Fandrey and a decision was made to retum to the residence on 06/21/12 and dig up the area which showed signs of a previous disturbance. On 06/21/13 at 1100 hrs Detective Pat Portela of the Suffolk County Homicide Squad arrived at Police Department Headquarters along with members of the Suffolk County Police Department ID Section and Emergency Services Unit. At 1115 hrs De/Sgt. Fandrey arrived at Police Department Headquarters and all units responded to 1675 Lower Road. At 1150 hrs the Emergency Services Unit cut open the conerete floor in the area of the detected disturbance. After doing so soil was removed down to a level approximately 4 and one feet below the floor with negative results.
