Introduction
Stylistics is defined as a study of the different styles that are presenting either a
given utterance or a written text or document. The consistent appearance of certain
structures, items and elements in a speech, an utterance or in a given text is one of the
major concerns of stylistics.
The purpose of this study is to stylistically analyze selected short stories entitled
All Over the world by Vicente Rivera Jr. The story All Over the World tells about the WWII.
Where many people lost and separated with their love ones or relatives. In the story, a
guy named Felix went to a movie house and went home alone, enjoying the quiet and
beautiful evening and the quiet streets and buildings. He is a 21 years old who work on
his first job in Manila. When he went home, he saw a beautiful little 11 years old girl named
Maria. He saw Maria reading his copy of Greek Myth. Felix tried to talk with Maria, but,
Maria is too shy to response. He lend the book to Maria for a while until Maria finish the
book. Maria live with her Uncle Lucio, a janitor. Marias parents are both dead and her
sister have already a new family. Maria loves to walk and explore the city. Maria finished
the book she borrowed from Felix and returned it. Felix and Maria become friends. But,
the war came. Its WWII that time, they should live there homes and evacuate to a safe
place to survive. So one day, Felix went to Marias house, but its too late. They are both
separate by the war and did not see each other again.
Vicente Rivera Jr. is the famous writer of this story. Vicente Rivera Jr. first starting
writing in the 1930s. After writing several years, Vicente Rivera Jr. died in 1999 in
Houston, Texas. He has won several prizes in the short story, he had a novel serialized
in a womens magazine and who threatens to win the 1957 Palanca award in the short
story. Vicente Rivera Jr. is a Bicolano writer who first started writing in the 1930s. He was
editor of Evening News Magazine.

Sentence Structure
In this story, some sentences are long because most parts of the story are
narration. The author narrate the important events and main details of the story. The
author also describe each character using the long sentences. When the author narrate
it, the sentences that he used is long. When it comes in dialogue of each characters,
some sentences are short. Its short because the author simplified what the character is
telling.
Based on what Ive read, there is no any digressions or interruptions used in each
sentences in the story.
The plot of the story is Felix lived in an old, nearly crumbling apartment house just
across the street from the movie house. Felix went around the low screen that partitioned
off study and there was a girl reading at the table. They looked at each other, startled
but Felix never seen her before. She was about eleven years old, wore a faded blue
dress, had long, straight hair falling to hair shoulders and she was reading the copy of
Felix Greek Myths. Felix asked the girl about the boo but she hesitated, hanging back,
then shyly she took the boo, brought it to her side and she looked down at her feet
uncerttin as to where to turn, the girl was Maria. Felix was twenty-obe ad had a job for the
first time. Felix met Maria again early evening, a week later, as Feix was coming home
from the office. They smile each other, tak each other and walked down the shadowed
Magallans Street in Intramuros, like all the other streetes there, was not wide enough,
hemmed in by old,
