How do Dali and Disney influence

each other in the short film Destino?

Chloe Gardiner
Introduction

In my essay, I will be studying the influence of both

Disney and Dali and how this has played a part in their
collaborative short film, Destino. I will be using
resources to describe Disneys life and influences, as
well as Dalis and how these combine into a surrealist
work of art.

My published sources will include:

-Surrealism by Patrick Waldberg
-Surrealism by Cathrin Klingsohr-Leroy
-Understanding Disney by Janet Wasko
-Disney The First 100 Years by Steven Clark

Quotations I have
found so far
those able to see a Disney film are able to escape from an everyday reality that is not always pleasurable or fun, and
may well pose challenging dilemmas. Understanding Disney, Janet Wasko. This quote will be used in Paragraph 1
to discuss how Disney has an impact on his audience, and the kind of work that Disney produces.

attempting to move beyond the definition of the visual image and its function. Surrealism, Cathrin Klingsohr-
Leroy. Will be used in Paragraph 2 to define what surrealism is and how Dali has used it in his work.

Salvador Dali was without doubt one of the most prolific artists of the twentieth century. Essential Dali, Kirsten
Bradbury. Will be used in Paragraph 2 to help describe Dali and how popular his work is.

surrealism was a way of life, a kind of existence that left room for playfulness and creativity. Surrealism, Cathrin
Klingsohr-Leroy. Will be used to talk about surrealisms impact in Destino, and how the use of creativity by Dali has
created something unique and influential.

As fascinating as the film itself is the juxtaposition of the two creative geniuses behind it, each bringing his own life-
lens to the project Dal described the film as A magical display of the problem of life in the labyrinth of time and
Disney called it A simple story about a young girl in search of true love. Brainpickings, Maria Popova. I will use this
quotation in Paragraph 3 to describe Destino and how the two artists are widely different, even when working on the
same film together.
Conclusion

In conclusion, Dali and Disney are widely different in both how

they think and their art style, yet they have still made a revered
and interesting experimental short film that has inspired many
others.

-Talk about how these two artists worked together

-Despite the differences they worked well
-A unique work of art that hasnt been seen before
-Closing statement, Destino as a film, how successful it has been,
