The study design leading to this article was divided into two parts.

For the first part of this study, a

systematic literature Brand heritage and heritage tourism. limiting the search only to journals

whilst excluding books and other literature. The advanced search returned 768 hits. The results were

further refined by filtering only the articles which have heritage tourism as its topic. The filtering

exercise decimated the list to mere 18 articles fulfilling the query criteria. After a final analysis, four

book reviews were excluded from the list leaving only 14 articles in the list with the earliest

published article in the result being a study by Garrod & Fyall (2000) appearing in Annals of Tourism

Research. The second part of this study on the other hand consiste by Professor Bradford T. Hudson

of Boston University entitled d o p. 129). A longitudinal review of heritage tourism as a field of study

over a 15 years period from 2000 to 2015 was therefore carried out to identify a viable theoretical

framework which will later serves as the backbone of the PhD research proper.

This study is limited only to the literature found through searches conducted on ScienceDirect

database and a single literature by Hudson (2013) found by searches on the internet. From the
