In the First Age, Lindon was a name for Ossiriand. After the great battle at the end of this age and after the destroying of
Ossiriand, Lindon was the name for the lands west of the Blue Mountains. Here - in the Gulf of Lhn are situated the
Grey Heavens, where the Elves start their trip into the West when they leave Middle-earth. This is the realm of Crdan, the
Shipwright.

Eregion, also called Hollin, lays in the west of Khazad-dm/Moria. There was a great friendship between the Elves, living
in Eregion, and the Dwarfs from Khazad-dm in fact it was the closest friendship ever seen between these two races.
Together they brought their forging skills up to the top.

Sauron, but the Dark Lord gained the other 16 Rings and gave them away: Seven for the dwarfs in their halls of stone and
nine for mortal men, doomed to die. When Sauron perceived that Celebrimbor knew about his betrayal, he called himself
Lord of the Earth and he covered Middle-earth with war. He killed Celebrimbor in 1697 S.A. and only the realms of
Lindon and Rivendell built by Elrond as a last refuge remained free (alongside with Khazad-dm which doors where

were defeated by crown prince Tar-Minastir and his Nmenorean army in 1700.

Crdan the Shipwright (High elf)

Crdan is one of the Teleri-Elves, Lord of Lindon. After the destroying of the Heavens, he went together with Gil-galad to

and one of the three keepers of the Elven Rings, he gave Narya the Red Ring or Ring of Fire to Gandalf when the
wizard came to Middle-earth. He fought alongside Gil-galad and Elrond when the Last Alliance fought against Sauron at
the end of the Second Age.

Gondor

Not everyone died at the Fall of Nmenor in 3319 S.A. The Faithful the men who resisted Ar-Pharazn and his evil
worship of Sauron managed to escape. Their leaders were Elendil and his two sons Isildur and Anarion, descendants of
Elros. Their ships were taken by an enormous storm and were thrown high into the air. Elendil came down in Lindon,
where he was welcomed by Gil-galad and there between the Blue and the Misty Montains, he founded the kingdom of
Arnor. His two sons however landed near the southern Anduin and there they founded Gondor. They built a capital
Osgiliath and the two fortresses of Minas Arnor (later Minas Tirith) and Minas Ithil (later Minas Morgul). They also
brought the seven Palaniri and the White Tree with them.
But they were not the only survivors: Sauron also managed to escape the abyss and returned to Middle-earth. He took his
old realm of Mordor and there he built the tower of Barad-dr. He was no longer able to take his friendly shape, so he
worked out a cruel, evil shape, which no one could bear to look at. Sauron summoned his armies and the Fiery Mountain
broke out once more. And in his armies, there were many men from the East and West. With the help of the Nazgl They
took Minas Ithil in 3429 S.A., but Isildur, who lived there, escaped. Sauron power grew still and soon would he be ready to
cover all lands into a second darkness.
But there were some who resisted: Gil-galad and Elendil joined each other and formed the Last Alliance in 3430 S.A.
Together they marched into the East and it is said that there was no larger army since the destroying of Thangorodrim by
the Valar in the First Age. They crossed the Misty Mountains and at the slopes of Mount Doom they fought for the freedom
of Middle-earth (3434). They beleaguered Barad-dr for seven years. But finally, Sauron himself came out. He struggled
with Gil-galad and Elendil and killed them both. But it was in this moment, when all hope faded, that Isildur, son of the king,
took up his fathers sword and cut the Ring from Saurons hand. Isildur had this chance to destroy evil for ever, but the
hearts of men are easily corrupted and as the Ring lasted, Saurons spirit also could survive.

Anaron(man)
Anrion was a son of Elendil and the brother of Isildur. After the escape from Nmenor, he reigned the kingdom of Gondor
together with his brother. There he lived in Minas Anor, but in 3440 S.A. he was slain by a stone, which was thrown by a
siege engine.

Umbar

South of the Bay of Belfalas lays the Cape of Umbar. In the Second age the Nmenreans extended the harbour to a
mighty city. It was here, where the fleet of Ar-Pharazn set foot on Middle-earth to conquer Sauron. After the Shadow fell
on Nmenor, the so-called Black Nmenreans sailed to Umbar and settled there (probably around 1800 S.A.)
In the following years many battles were fought for Umbar. But in the end Gondor lost the harbours.
In the Third Age the Corsairs of Umbar descendants of Castamir the Usurper were at war with the legions of Gondor (I
included the rules for Corsairs out of completeness, although they only appear in the Third Age).
Three of the Nazgl were Black Nmenreans and the Mouth of Sauron also claimed to be a Nmenorean descendant.

Playtesting

I playtested the characters by making an army for them and fighting against my Mordor (Gorbag, Orc Captain, Easterling
Captain, Orc banner, Easterlin banner, 24 Orcs, 6 Easterlings, 1 Mordor-Troll) or against my Minas Tirith army ( Faramir,
Damrod, 1 Captain, banner, 24 WoMT, 5 KoMT, 3 Rangers).
It was very fun to play, although I had to change some point values and stats. The rules for the Elven Rings were
especially difficult to work out as were the one for Annatar. I think he is a very challenging character to play, for you have
to find the best moment to reveal yourself and the best position for deploying (he really may disturb Elven archers if he is
deployer right before them).

Special Thanks

Thanks to everybody who helped me with the English expressions for Sauron's spells and the upgrades/secial rules for
the bolt-thrower.
Special thanks to Elrohirthe1, who inspired me to add the Black Nmenoreans.

Conclusion

I hope youll enjoy this new rules as I did. And who knows perhaps will soon find some new scenarios using this
characters?
For everyone, who is now (or already was before) interested in the history of Middle-earth here a link to a good
encyclopaedia about the Lord of the Rings, I found in the web:
www.glyphweb.com/arda/
Please mail me (aragornfriendofhobbits@yahoo.de)any suggestions you have or discuss this article here .
If you liked the article I probably will send another one about the first age (or perhaps two; there are so much more
interesting characters in this age ) - the rough stats for them are already worked out, but still need playtesting
