Time to Play!

Goals and Objectives:


- Students will be able to create a cooperative movement game consisting of the
following components; locomotor skills, object manipulation, and offensive
strategies.

Students will able to create their very own game or a spin-off of a game already
created.
Students will identify the components and ideas of what makes a game good.
Students will decide on three different motor skills and two object manipulation
strategies to include into their game. Students will create and define one offensive
strategy to incorporate into their game.

California Content Standards


- 2.12 Develop a cooperative movement game that uses locomotor skills, object
manipulation, and an offensive strategy and teach the game to another person.

Detailed Instructions/ Content Delivery:


Students will be required to complete a concept map to help them develop their very own
game. While working in a group of four, students will work collaboratively to complete
the following requirements. Students will brainstorm and work together to create a
concept map to help them make a cooperative movement game including the following
from each category: locomotor skills, object manipulation and offensive strategies.

Students must first research other games that have already been created to gain some
inspiration of what they like and dont like.
Students will learn the components of creating a game.

Student Engagement
Divide the students into groups of four and have them work together to create and
identify their own cooperative movement game using a concept map.
The concept map must include:
1. Name of the game.
2. Goal of the game (1 Goal)
3. Rules of the game (at least 3 or more rules).
4. Safety of the game (at least 2 or more safety rules).
5. Three locomotor skills with definitions.
6. Two object manipulations with definitions.
7. One offensive strategy with the explanation.
8. One video.
9. Three images.
10. Three additional information facts needed to play the game.
11. One online reference of where ideas came from.
