Classroom Expectations

1. No phones. Phones should not be in sight at all, not even on the table. They should be
turned off or on silent at all times. If you are caught using a mobile phone it will be
confiscated.
2. You are not allowed to listen to music in class at all. Headphones will not be used in class
at all.
3. No swearing. You are at school in a learning environment.
4. No eating in class. You have assigned breaks (recess and lunch) to eat. You should not be
bringing food to class.
5. No chewing gum. Gum is not permitted at school at all, mainly because most students do
not dispose of it correctly. DO NOT chew gum in class.
6. Laptops should only be opened and switched on when you have been instructed to do
so.
7. Laptops should only be used for school work. Anyone who uses their laptop to play
games, go on YouTube, or any other off task behaviour will not be permitted to use their
laptop for that lesson.
8. Toilet and drink breaks should be taken at recess and lunch times. Please bring your
drink bottle to class.
9. Lateness You are required to be on time to class. If you are late to class three times
within a term you will receive a one hour after school detention.
10. Bring the correct materials to class pencil case, diary, exercise book, novel, text book,
etc.
11. You must be respectful and behave appropriately at all times in class. Be respectful to
me and others and we will be respectful to you. This means, when I am talking, you are
listening. Do not talk over me when I am teaching or your peers during class discussions.
12. You must complete all set work (class work, home work and assignments) to the best
of your ability. Parents will be contacted when work is not submitted and you will receive
an afterschool detention.
13. Unless instructed otherwise, all your assignments must be handed up on the due date
in hard-copy form. Not sent via email or on a USB. You are NOT entitled to use class time
to print assignments the day they are due. This should be done at home or in the library
in the mornings before home group.
14. Plagiarism is cheating and will not be tolerated. If you plagiarise your work you will
receive a zero for it and will be required to re-submit it.
15. Do not leave the classroom unless given permission too. This includes at the end of the
lesson when the bell goes.
