Title: Its So (Not) Ew!

Plot:

Starts off in the summer of 2010

Neena and her family just moved from London, England to New York, New

York

Dad and mom wanted to open a new doctors office in NYC Neenas whole

family is reluctant, but were looking forward to a new future

Climax: Libby and Neena become friends until Libby sees Neenas lunch. After

this they dont become friends.

Student teacher made them friends again

Shows acceptance

Characters:

Protagonist- 2nd grader; Neena; comes from London, favorite food is aloo bhaja

and roti, grandma makes it for her, becomes friends w/antagonist

Helpful adult- student teacher (Ms. Cook) in Neenas class; is biracial ( black

and white). She helps facilitate the friendship between Neena and Libby.

Main teacher (Mrs. Nelson) introduces Neena and Libby and tells student teacher

to look after her new student.

Antagonist- Mainly a girl named Elizabeth (goes by Libby) Neena and Libby

were becoming friends until she saw what Neenas lunch looked like. At the end,

Libby learns to accept Neenas culture and they become friends again

Parents- dont seem to understand whats the problem w/being herself. They tell

her to be proud of herself.

Siblings- Has a younger sister that is about to start school (shes 3); sisters name

is Siya.

Grandparent- Grandma (Dadi) packs her roti (Indian bread) and Neena really

loves that; Libby bullys her for her meal.
