THE WARREN COUNTY MASTER GARDENER TRAINING PROGRAM IS NOW OPEN


FOR 2018! Applications are being accepted for the training that will begin in January 2018. The
program is open to anyone who has an interest in expanding their gardening experience and
knowledge. Learn how you can improve your own gardens and landscapes. Learn scientifically-
based gardening information in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere. It is a great way to learn even
more by sharing information with fellow-Master Gardeners during the training, and following the
training, by participating in community-based horticultural programs, educational projects and
helping people in the community with their gardening questions. The Master Gardener Training
Program is packed with information provided by the many scientists, educators, and garden experts
associated with Cornell University. The course includes information about: botany; entomology;
organic gardening; soil health; use of fertilizers; plant diseases; good flower, fruit and vegetable
growing practices; and wildlife management. Please contact the Master Gardener program at Cornell

ON SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 5, Battenkill Conservancys Annual Meeting & Speaker Series will
kick off the Fort Miller Meetinghouses fall program of events. The featured speaker, Doug Vincent,
will share a great story about his 180 day canoe trip, A Journey Down the Hudson. Attendees
will also learn about Battenkill Conservancys work to promote clean water & open space and have
the opportunity to provide feedback and ideas related to their projects. The Battenkill Conservancys
event is the first in a series of ongoing events and programs that are open to the public and look to
serve the surrounding communities in a variety of ways. The 201 year old Meetinghouse began
hosting community meetings in 1816 when the hamlet of Fort Miller served as an appropriate
location for people to gather from the surrounding towns. The current Meetinghouse Planning
Committee is open to anyone interested in getting involved and/or suggesting a program or event.
