The Origins of Our World

When there was nothing

It was only a matter of time before it would all come to be. For neither a story nor any form of
awareness could happen in a world where there is no subject of the sentence. As such, out of the
darkness anything can be born, so long as it obeys itself. That is the means by which the most ancient of
distinctly not nothings appeared out of the blackness and unconscious. It had no name at first, there is
no need for a name when you are the only element of the set. Then in the first Step it gave itself the
name of itself, in the first tongue. It was Balaur, word which in the following tongues of the lesser
creatures devolved to be understood as Father of the World, Mother of the Skies, Envoy of the
Beginnings or Eater of Worlds. All depending upon the conjuncture of their meeting and interaction with
him. The first of beings.

Some, in their lesser understanding, would succumb to the wrong, yet soothing, conclusion the Balaur is
the god of our World. Which is definitely not true. Although he has made most of the known things, he is
neither the only one creator, nor the one who rules supreme over the laws of the universe. To a human
of our age, the incommensurable time Balaur has spent alone in the darkness would not seem only
eternal, but maddening beyond reason. It was however during this time of loneliness, that Balaur gained
the most profound understanding of this world. And of what is permissible. He also watched countless
Nori appear and vanish as soon as they did as a result of their lack of self-consistency. He learned logic,
reason and mathematics, gained wisdom, but nevertheless most of the time he played. And out of his
games dawned the first civilization.

Most potent in their abilities, simplest in their construction, these beings are nowadays called Primos.
Those who came in being due to the simplest motions of the Balaur. They are vastly intelligent, mostly
due to their experience which came with their age. Practically immortal as far as beings of later Steps can
tell. They are the first spawns of Balaur. Some to his likeness, but non to his complexity. The Primos have
mostly been lost to history due to their inability to replicate and the lack of any new ones being made by
Balaur.

Then on came further Steps, adding to the complexity, making the spawns of Balaur more naturally
gifted and able to replicate, but making them way more fragile in the process. In between the First Step
and the Singularity everything, we, humans, know has been made, the stars, the planets, the galaxies.

Humans are the last species to have been born of Balaur, the 3rd after the Singularity, complex in
behavior, weak in constitution, hard to make reason with, but perhaps with the fastest possibility to
evolve.
