This is America before the

Mexican-American War.
Oregon
Russia, Spain, America, and Great Britain were in Oregon because
they could store ships there. But Russia, and Spain had to go.
America stayed in Oregon so they could trade with China.
Texas
America politely asked Mexico to have some of their land in return they would give 30 million
dollars, but Mexico said no.Then, America got angry because Mexico declined their offer.
Next, America claimed Texas as one of their states. Then, a war started between them.
Californios in California

Mexican colonist in california were called californios. Californios and

anglos did not care if they were in mexican land they thought that since
the city of mexico was so far away they can do anything they wanted. They
build docks/ ports for trade,they build town/ missions for them to live
in. They did not care if they were in mexican soil they build farm for cattle
and vaqueros.
The Bear Flag Revolt

California made a flag thinking that they were going to become a nation, but the US naval forces told
California that they were officially part of the US. And instead of raising the california flag, the naval
members rose up the american flag, and declared it as a state. Also the mexicans thought that the bear
on the flag before looked like a pig!

 Fighting Breaks out

America had great equipment and brave soldiers even if they were outnumbered. America asked for
50,000 people to fight for them but 200,000 people accepted the call. America was able to claim
New Mexico, and Arizona while their friends were on their way to claim the Mexican Capital.
 The Wars End
Many people perished and the mexican army fled and polk sent general winfield scott to
conquer mexico city. 9/14/1847 mexico fell, Mexico fled the wars to be able to save
men, they decided that they were not going to be able to win so the just signed a treaty
to america so no more human lives would be lost . The treaty was called the treaty of
guadalupe. Mexico later on received money for land that they still owned.
Difficulties of the two races

The Mexicans were discriminated from the Anglos, they were forced to give up their land
because they needed to prove that they Owned that land the treaty promised to protect
them but it still did not do anything good for the mexican race living in american soil.
While americans were having trouble getting land because of the long time landowners.
Cultural Encounters

When Americans and the Mexicans moved into Texas together the laws were made in
english and spanish. Also, Mexicans, and Native American made tools that everyone
could use and taught Americans how to mine in the mountains. Mexican and American
Cultures were respected and celebrated by each other.
 Manifest destiny

In the end America got more land for it growing country, And its cultures have
diversified.
