But I just cannot sit down and read it like I would a novel. Garrison Keillor's intro is fascinating for those of us who have grown up with "A Prairie
Home Companion" but never really known about the man behind the stories. Four years ago, I found a copy of Keillor's collection "Good Poems"
and I poured over it hoping to find some good poems to share with my students. I am confused of who you are, and who I am to you, I'm scared
that you will never know who I have grown into Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: Whatever his arrogance can do it is doing to him. In Without
Donald Hall speaks to us all of grief, as a poet lamenting the death of a poet, as a husband mourning the loss of a wife. What issues have you
encountered while preparing a manuscript for publication? No guilt if I don't enjoy a poet, just move on to the next one. Garrison Keillor's
introduction is wonderful; don't skip it. The labor of being fully human, working my opposable thumb, talking, and walking upright. My thoughts,
my dreams, and all my fears They all speed past my listening ears I keep my copy in one of my motorcycle saddlebags as emergency reading in
case I find my self waiting at an appointment. It just seemed like a collection of poems that someone liked, not necessarily poems that are going to
get you through tough times. Overall, it's a good selection, but I think it's more of a starting point for the novice to find poets they'll enjoy as
opposed to a collection that stands out as something truly good on its own. Hooked by the intro Aug 07, Kelly rated it liked it. Jun 29, Kelly rated
it really liked it. Everyone thinks I'm this super hero or something. But enough of that. Eliot sucks because he's not earthy enough. In my opinion,
the amenities of poetry could not have been honored in a better fashion than Keillor's take. But here you have. As you might expect from a
collection a bit like a cabinet of curiosities of poetry, the order is hard to fathom. He is six feet, three inches 1. I have been trying to decide how to
set my poems into a book so this was a very timely article. I was actually pretty proud of this fact as an English major, and I did whatever I could
to avoid having to take classes dedicated to the literary form. Some really great gems in this book that stretch well beyond one's "legacy"
perspective of poetry, as well as the content typically expected in poems. Beasts, Failure, Snow, and Music. The man is brilliant. This anthology is
a must-have for public libraries and for high school media centers. Aug 14, Sue rated it it was amazing. Feb 27, Bruce rated it liked it Shelves: The
