One Piece for Dulcop Bubbles

Summary
New product design contest on Desall.com: Dulcop and Desall invite you to a new contest dedicated
to the design of the new single-component cap for the soap bubble toys, a funny game loved all
around the world.

Official contest page: http://bit.ly/OnePieceforDulcopBubbles

Company Description
Founded in 1938, with over 300 licensed and generic products, Dulcop is the largest manufacturer
of soap bubbles and bubble toys in Europe. Production and logistics cover an area of over 10000
sqm.
The efforts of Dulcop are directed to a process of continuous improvement with the aim to provide
a flexible but reliable service, suitable to the ever-growing needs of modern retail. Dulcop products
are present in over 50 Countries.

What we are looking for

In a perspective of environmental responsibility and reduction of plastic materials, Dulcop relies
on the community of Desall to design a new cap able to reduce the number of components
needed, currently 4 pieces glass, ball, maze-cap and wand preferably suggesting a single-
component solution, able to offer a funny and child-friendly solution.

Guidelines
For the correct realisation of your proposals, keep into consideration the following guidelines:

Product typology: you are invited to design a new cap for the soap bubbles bottle, preferably
suggesting a single-component solution, able to embed in a single mould all the elements
of the cap, game and wand included. In fact, the cap is currently realised through a complex
process that implies the moulding of four separate elements (glass, ball, maze-cap and wand)
and the assembly through an automated machine. In a perspective of environmental responsibility
and energy saving, you are invited to suggest a solution that contains the least quantity of plastic
materials as possible and that may be realised through a single moulding process. Besides, the
cap you suggest shall be compatible with the current Dulcop bottle that you can include in the
representation of your proposal (refer to the Material files for the 3D model). Ultimately, you are
invited to re-think the maze with a view to optimising the moulding process or to suggest a new
game, preferably without needing extra components.

Elements of the cap: the cap you suggest shall include in the same component the following
elements:
- the redesigned maze, with a view to optimising the number of components or in its place
- a new game, that employs a single-component solution (or at all events no more than two
components);
- wand, which is a fundamental part of the cap, used by children to actually create the soap
bubbles. This element shall include the Dulcop logo, attached in the Material files. For the
shapes and size of the rings included in the wand, refer to the current model (see 3D model
attached in the Material files).

Cap features: the cap shall be compatible with the current screwing modality between bottle
(external thread) and cap (internal thread). For more indications, please refer to the Material files. An
important feature to preserve in your project for a better usability of your product is a solution able
to guarantee - during the unscrewing and the screwing of the cap - an optimal grip, for which you
may also suggest alternatives.

Size and weight: your project shall have a diameter equal to 38 mm and a height of min 18
mm and max 24 mm, as better illustrated in the 3D file attached in the Material files, in order to
keep the current external dimensions and preserve the compatibility with the current bottle. For a
greater environmental respect, it is fundamental that you suggest a solution that employs the least
possible amount of material, reducing the weight of the cap which currently weighs 6,14 gr
as far as possible.

Style and colours: it is fundamental that in your project you maintain the feature of alternating
the colours, which is an element of the greatest importance in the interaction with the child and
constitutes a real distinctive feature of the Dulcop products. In fact, the style and colours of the
soap bubble toy play a major role in the appeal and playfulness in the eyes of the target customer,
creating an attractive chromatic effect inside the product display. In particular, to give continuity
to the brand style, the cap will be white and will be sided by the vivid colour of a distinctive
coloured element, currently represented by the coloured glass; however, with a view to optimising
the number of components the glass wont be employed anymore but may possibly be replaced
by another element, such as a sticker, or by another solution. In order to better understand the role
played by the colours in the Dulcop products, please refer to the examples attached in the Material
files.

Materials: the single-component cap will be entirely made of polypropylene (PP).

Production technologies: with the aim of creating a feasible product, it is important that you keep
into consideration the production technologies and in this specific case the injection moulding
process. In this regard, it is fundamental that you reduce the presence of undercut elements, that is
elements with a degree under 90, as they not permit the extraction of the element from the mould.

Logo: following the recent redesign of the Dulcop logo, you are invited to employ the new logo
attached in the Material files, which will have to be present on the wand even if in a discreet way.
You are nevertheless free to suggest valid alternatives for the logo positioning.

Target: the soap bubbles are mainly addressed to a target of children aged between 3 and 8
years and their parents.

Deliverables: upload all the images that better present your projects (rendering, descriptions, etc.)
preferably attaching the 3D files; if necessary, you may also attach a .ZIP archive containing extra
materials. For a better contextualisation of your project, you are invited to employ in your renderings
the current Dulcop bottle, attached in the Material files.

Evaluation criteria: in the evaluation of your submissions Dulcop will take into account the following
criteria:
Degree of innovation
Technical feasibility
Functionality/usability
Economic sustainability
Project presentation

Submission Guidelines

Project images: the first image attached from the upload page will also be used as the preview
of the project in the gallery. In order to better present your project and draw the attention of the
sponsor, we suggest you to choose a content that provides an overall idea of the whole project in
one single image, briefly including all the contents that will be further presented in the following
images.
We also suggest you to use all five image slots available from the upload page of the contest
and - where possible - to present several views of the project giving also an indication of the main
dimensions of the product.
For product design contests in particular, we suggest you to include at least one image with your
project on neutral background and no writings.
For the rendering and presentation of your project, the use of copyrighted images, even if slightly
edited, is prohibited.
In case of using materials owned by third parties (ex. stock images, stock videos, texts, etc.), make
sure you are granted all the licenses needed for participating in the contest, as further specified in
the Contest Agreement.
In case of submitting multiple projects or concepts, you have to repeat the upload procedure for
each project: do not submit multiple projects with a single submission.
You are required to upload at least 1 image; image ratio: preferably 4:3; allowed file formats: .jpg,
.gif or .png; colour mode: RGB; maximum file size: 1MB.
Descriptions: we suggest you to use the appropriate fields, Abstract and Description, to include
all textual information about your project. We discourage you to include textual description inside
your images, as they might result difficult to read (at all events, we suggest you to include at least
one image - if possible - with your project on neutral background and no writing). In the Abstract
field you have maximum 500 characters to include a short summary of your project while in the
Description field you can include all the remaining information.
Additional material: in addition to the project images, you are invited to attach further materials

project images and 3D files (preferably in .stp or .igs format - you may also include a PDF 3D file for
a rapid visualisation). The maximum size of the .ZIP archive is 100MB. You may also attach a video
presenting your project through the Video File field from the upload page, including it inside a .ZIP
archive with a maximum size of 50MB.
Concept revision: within the first weeks of the contest, you might ask for a revision on your project
by the Desall team. In order to do so, you are required to save your project as draft and send your
request via e-mail (contest@desall.com) or through the contact form. The deadline for requiring the
concept revision is specified in the Optional deadlines paragraph inside the brief.
Hidden option: only in case of public gallery contests, you can submit your project with hidden
design privacy option, provided that you submit your project within the first half of the upload
phase. By doing so, your project will remain hidden for all other users until the opening of the
Community Vote, if any. At all events, your project will always be visible for the Sponsor regardless
of the submission date. This option is automatically disabled once the first half of the upload phase
has expired: you can find the deadline for activating this option in the Optional deadlines paragraph
inside the brief.
You can find further instructions on how to create your account, how to submit your project and
