TITLE NOISE LEVEL

INTRODUCTION
Noise is derived from the Latin word nausea implying unwanted
sound or sound that is loud, unpleasant or unexpected. The noise
originates from human activities, especially the urbanization and the
development of transport and industry. Though, the urban population
is much more affected by such pollution, however, small town and
villages along side roads or industries are also victim of this problem.
Noise is becoming an increasingly omnipresent, yet unnoticed form of
pollution even in developed countries.

In measuring the noise level, temperature, humidity, atmospheric

pressure, wind, dust and from magnetic field can all affect the
performance of noise measuring instruments and the data measured.
Therefore, preparations on the procedures of measurement are very
PREAMBLE important in order to obtain the accurate data reading as well as to
achieve the objective of the experiment.

OBJECTIVES
Based on the problem statement, students are required to identify the
suitable objectives and come out with proper solution for this
experiment.

LEARNING OUTCOMES
At the end of the laboratory activities, students would be able:
1. To acquire and develop sublime psychomotor skills in conducting
laboratory experiments.
2. To work as a team, demonstrate leadership and enhance
communication skills through discussion.

PROBLEM STATEMENT
Noise level from the construction site surrounding a commercial
building have become a problem to the near residential areas. Due to
this problem, their daily routines are mostly affected by this situation.
PROBLEM STATEMENT
Many unidentified sources of noise are known to be the factors of this
problem. Perform a relevant experiment to identify the noise level
surrounding the site and also the building.

APPARATUS
Each group must identify the suitable apparatus needed for the
experiment themselves.

PROCEDURES

Based on the problem statement, each group is required to search for

the relevant procedure to carry out the experiment. The document
WAYS AND MEANS
must be made ready for verification by the instructor during the
laboratory activity.

DATA ANALYSIS
All data collected and observed during the test must be tabulated in
proper format for easy verification and presentation of the technical
report

RESULTS, ANALYSIS AND CONCLUSION

Each group is required to submit a technical report of the laboratory
results highlighting the apparatus used, the procedures undertaken for
the test, data acquisition process, analysis carried out and the
relevancy of the set-out output to address the given problem. The
RESULTS format of the technical report can be done according to the creativity
and the discretion of the group members.

The report must be submitted within SEVEN (7) days after the
completion of the test.
