STANDARD 8: Instructional Strategies

The teacher understands and uses a variety of instructional strategies to encourage learners to
develop deep understanding of content areas and their connections, and to build skills to apply
knowledge in meaningful ways.

In music, the teacher finds interesting ways to allow students to understand the
connections of various subjects, both music and non-music. The students can also learn to not
only understand the deeper meaning of what they are learning, but they can also learn to apply
what they learned in meaningful ways in performances and in life.

I do not have much experience with this standard. I have seen examples from my
teachers, but I have not been able to put anything into practice.

I will learn to better utilize this standard in the coming years when I take classes like the
music education classes.
