API 650 DESIGN CHECK LIST

1. Check whether Design Temp. / Internal pressure are within the range of Design code (i.e. 260 0C and 2
Psi)
2. Appendix-M requirements shall be applicable for following cases
If design Temp. > 900 C for C.S.Tanks but not exceeding 2600C
> 400 C for S.S.Tanks (In addition to Appendix S) but not exceeding 2600C
NOTE:- ANNEX M ( REQUIREMENTS FOR TANKS OPERATING AT ELEVATED TEMP)

3. Provided Top curb Angle area is more than required area at roof to shell junction for self-supported
roof.
4. Unstiffened shell height is greater than transposed width.
If not, Intermediate wind girder to be provided (Check the provided modulus of section of wind girder which
should be greater than required modulus of section).
5. Insulation thickness is included in effective dia. (De) for wind moment calculation.
6. Wind load / moment is calculated as per IS 875-1987 or any other applicable code.
