Here is an event which presents before you an opportunity to be

original, innovative, showcase your zeal, passion and commitment
and hence live your dream. Welcome to “The B-Plan Contest” under
“Empresario…Celebrating the Spirit of Entrepreneurship” on

24th October, 2010 at NITIE, Mumbai. Empresario, an endeavor

by PGDIE students at NITIE brings to fore, the enthusiasm of the

youth along with the experience and knowledge of industry mentors.
It adds new dimensions to the realm entrepreneurial events by
facilitating a forum for interaction among students and
entrepreneurs. We are also formally associated with International
Entrepreneurship Cells like TiE, NEN and IAN- India’s No.1 Angel
Investor’s Network.

This may be your gateway to incubation and possible

financing of business plan if you happen to be one who’s Ideas our
judges really appreciate. We Invite Students of Management,
Engineering & Technology Colleges all across India to participate in
one and only of its Kind B-plan Contest.

We have observed high participation since the inception of

event and have been making suitable changes in the competition to
make it more focused and provide base for many more budding
entrepreneurs to interact with the Entrepreneurs and VCs who have
gone through tough times and made name for themselves.

 Last Year B-Plan Contest’s Glimpses

B Plan Contest has seen an overwhelming participation from

students of various top B-Schools like IIM-A, IIM-C, IIM-L, XLRI,
ISB, FMS, IIT-B, SIBM, DCE, SPJIMR, NMIMS, to name a few. All
the teams were adjudged by a panel comprising of highly reputed
industrialists.
B-Plan Contest '09 Results:

 Winner - BioCem - T A Pai Management Institute, Manipal

 1st Runner Up - Vermpet – IGIT, Delhi
 2nd Runner Up - Sabjiiwala – SIIB, Pune

The above 3 best B-plans were awarded Cash Prizes of `30,000 ,

`20,000 & `10,000 respectively.

 T h e B-Plan Structure

The B-Plan Contest at Empresario is a 3 stage contest:

Stage I (The Prelims)

Participating teams of maximum three members each will submit
the Executive summaries of their business plans. The Executive
summaries will be evaluated on the basis of concept, business
overview, strategy of execution, market opportunity, organization
structure and financials. 20 best teams will go to the stage II.
Stage II (B-Plan Submission)
The 20 selected teams each will submit their detailed B-plans in
the format specified. Real life entrepreneurs from the industry will
evaluate these B-plans and will shortlist the best 5 B-plans.
Stage III (The Mentorship)
In this stage each of the 5 selected teams will receive a complete
1 month mentorship from some of the very good entrepreneurs
who have made their name in the respective fields. This gives the
teams a chance to utilize and capitalize on knowledge, experience
and enthusiasm of the esteemed mentors and bring out a refined
B-plan.
The Grand Finale
Each team with mentors alongside will present its B-Plan to an
eminent jury during Empresario 2010. The jury will include some

of the leading VCs, Incubators, Bankers, etc. from the industry.

The jury will select top 3 B-plans who will be awarded during the
final day ceremony on 24th Oct, 2010.

Rules & Procedures:

1. For Team Formation

 The B-Plan Contest 2010 is open to all students of

management, technology & engineering institutes.
 A team can consist of a maximum of three students.
 No student can be a part of more than one team.
 One team can submit only one entry.
 The members of the team may not be necessarily from the
same institute.
 There is no restriction on the number of teams from an
institute.

2. Registration & Submission of Executive Summaries

 Register yourself at http://empresario.nitie.in & note your

identification no (ID No.) and use this ID No. as reference
for any further communication.
 Send your executive summary to bplan.nitie@gmail.com
with the subject of the mail as Bplan_ID No.
 Executive summary should be in PDF or Word Doc format.
 The executive summary should be of maximum four
pages including the cover page.
 Cover page should contain ID No, Team name, B-Plan title,
Team leaders’ information (name, email id and contact
number), Course (Engg., Management, Science etc.) &
Institue name along with other members information.
 Executive summary will be evaluated on the aspects of the
concept, business overview, strategy of execution, market
opportunity, organization structure & financials etc.

spacing, 1" margins all around, A-4 page.
 Name your file as ID No_Team Name.
 Team Empresario will ensure that all the entries are kept
absolutely confidential.

3. Submission of detailed B-Plans

 B-Plan should be in PDF or DOC format.

 Final B-Plan should not exceed 10 pages.
 Format details: Times New Roman, 12 point, 1.5 line
spacing, 1" margins all around, A-4 page.
 Final B-Plan would be evaluated on the basis of following
points:

• Execution Plan
• Management strategy
• Market Opportunity
• Market Solution
• Profitability and Financial Analysis
• Risks and Exit strategy
