Modifying Resource Rates of Pay

In this exercise youll revise the pay rates for these two project team members, then examine the effect of
these changes using project statistics.

1. Open Home Construction Project 3D.

This project plan is similar to that used in the prior exercise, except that resources have been
assigned to all tasks. The Timescale has been set to display the entire project.

2. Choose ProjectPropertiesProject InformationStatistics.

After assigning resources to all tasks in the project plan, project duration is estimated at 95
days, work is estimated at 1,066 hours, and cost is estimated at $91,760.00.

(Note that this plan does not yet reflect the costs of materials.)

3. Close the Project Statistics dialog box.

Next, display a list of tasks assigned to the project architect, Michelle Elizabeth.

4. Choose ViewResource ViewsResource Usage to display the Resource

Usage view.

Examine the four tasks assigned to Michelle Elizabeth. The last three are not architectural
tasks, but are instead related to her apprentice interior designer role. They should be accounted
for at the lower apprentice rate.

5. In the Resource Usage view, right-click on Michelle Elizabeth and from the shortcut menu
click Information.

The Resource Information dialog box for this resource is displayed.

lower table B cost.

10. Choose Paul Jacob, the construction supervisor, as the Resource.

Youll now assign a pay increase to him. In this case, you do not need to create a separate cost
table; instead, modify his default cost table A to reflect a pay increase with an effective date of
8/1/14.
