Before you start importing youll need to make sure youre allowed to import the particular product,

animal or item. The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) or any concerned government regulatory
agencies must be satisfied first that it meets import rules and regulation and doesnt pose a biosecurity
risk. If it is a food product, it needs to meet food safety and labeling requirements.

Some goods may need cleaning or treatment to make sure no unwanted pests or diseases are
introduced to the Philippines.

All business or commercial goods coming into the Philippines need to be DECLARED. Youll need to lodge
the details of your imports through the import entry clearance process with the Bureau of Customs, no
later than 20 days after the goods arrive.

IMPORT DOCUMENTS required for shipments to the Philippines include:

1. Commercial Invoice
2. Bill of Lading (Sea Freight Shipment); Air Way Bill (Air Freight Shipment)
3. Special Certificates
4. Import Clearances
5. Permits depending on the nature of the goods being shipped.

You wont be able to pick-up your goods until the customs has

1. verified your import entry clearance

2. confirmed the duties and charges and other conditions that might apply (biosecurity clearances
issued by the DTI)
Like imported goods, all exports need to be declared. Often, the Department of Trade and Industry
(DTI) or any government regulatory agencies may also need to verify your goods meet the
requirements of the country theyre being exported to.

To declare your goods, youll need to lodge the details of your exports through the export entry
clearance with the Bureau of Customs (BOC). You must do this no less than 48 hours before the
goods are due to be loaded for export.

Depending on the type of the product and the requirements of the importing country, you may need
to get assurance- like export certificates- from DTI that the product meets the biosecurity
requirements. Some goods may need cleaning or treatment to make sure theyre free from pests
and diseases.

Exports wont be cleared to leave until the Bureau of Customs has verified your export entry
clearance and once the goods have been cleared, Customs will allow your export goods to leave the
country. Youre required to keep all your commercial export documents on records for at least 3
years.

WHAT ARE YOUR STRENGTHS?

Ive always been known for my work ethic. When I commit to a deadline, I do whatever it takes to
deliver. I even stayed up late at night to finish the project, making sure that the deadline was not
only met but that the report was accurate and precise.

I am also a people person. As a college student representative, Ive learned how to deal with
a wide variety of personalities.
I enjoy handling tough cases as it give me a chance to be a problem solver.
I have the ability to see a situation from different aspects and perspectives and I can get my
work done even in the face of difficult obstacles.
 How much salary do you expect?

Being a fresher, salary is not my first priority. I want to enhance my knowledge, my skills and gain
experience. So, I expect a considerable amount of salary according to my ability and your company
standard.

What are your weaknesses?

Sometimes I can be a bit too honest when I provide feedback to my coworkers. My personality is
naturally very straightforward and to the point, and most of my colleagues really value that,
but I have learned that there are times on the job when more diplomacy is required. I took a
training class on conflict management and it really opened my eyes to the need to communicate
differently with different people. So now I am much better at providing constructive feedback,
even if it doesnt always come naturally.

Honestly, I would say that public speaking is an area that I could work on. I tend to get nervous
when asked to present to a large group of people.

In small team meetings, Im the first one to stand up and present. But put me in front of
a big group and I can get flustered.
As a communication student before, I address this as one of my greatest weakness and I
set it as one of my development goals. I took an internal presentation skills and attended some
workshops on Public speaking before at UP Diliman. With some practice, I started to feel more
comfortable. So I plan on continuing to seek out opportunities to improve in this area.

So in five years time, I can see myself still working in the company where
I am driven to be the best at what I do and
where Ill have the opportunities to develop my skills,
take on interesting projects and
work with people I can really learn from.
