 Established since 1995, the dorst Group is an ISO 9001: 2008 company is a well-
known name in industry of Architectural hardware & high security locking solution for
providing a complete range of products to style homes, offices, hotels, hospitals, etc.
The companys motive is to provide designers & building owners with versatile
collection of doorware, locking mechanism and glass fixtures & fittings conveying
contemporary aesthetics & are manufactured to technological accuracy of highest
standard.

01 the subject of the competition:

dorst insists on rigorous craftsmanship & constant innovation, the ideologies that
have been synonymous with the Brands identity in design & manufacturing of
Hardware. Our efforts at dorst remain to gratify both the aesthetic & practical
requirements of the user by mastering the science & sentiment in design. With this
competition, dorst aims to expand the horizons of door handles.

Students can participate under two broad themes:

1. Door handles in Urban Living

Door Handles designed for 2015, for an upmarket urban generation that would echo the
trends, architecture and lifestyle that would prevail in society. Door handles to be exciting
mediums of contemporary form. Styling, form and functionality to be core factors in
determining a new generation of door handles. Pure sculptural and aesthetic innovation
without gimmicky use of technology in terms of sensors, gadgets etc.

2. Door handles and Affordable Architecture

Door Handles with a very pragmatic approach, designed to be efficient and minimal.
Design to determine how costs can be brought down without compromising quality.
The idea to be to bring down the Door Handle to its basic minimal and yet be
innovative. Emphasis on ergonomics, functionality and reassurance of quality all
keeping affordability as the basic criteria.

Experimental designs are encouraged and will be appreciated as long as they meet the
technical requirement cited.

Glass Solutions on Rose model)

h option to use the rights for production of any design/designs as its original form or
with some modifications if required.

Jury will comprise of Dorset Experts.

04 design criteria
projects should not be currently in production, previously published or
exhibited projects are not accepted.

it is important that you keep your design(s) confidential until the results of
the competition are published.

the jury will award designs and concepts which are innovative in terms of their
formal aspects. Please don't send in vague concepts, but go a step further.

05 deadline
Competition Starts through August 2, 2013.
Competition Closes on Sep 8, 2013 (IST 17:30 Hrs)

06 submit your entry / entries

Multiple entries are allowed. Students can enter in more than one category,
please submit each work separately along with category.

for the same.

4. you will be requested to accept the competition guidelines:

projects participating to the competition, must be original works. projects must
be free from copyrights and any kind of obligation. the design shall not in any
way infringe any third partys right, including but not limited to copyright, logos,
trademark, trade names, or other proprietary rights of publicity or privacy.

07 announcement of the results

results will be announced on Oct 11, 2013
the jury's selection is final and is not debatable.

08 intellectual property rights
