Over 1,300 attend NIBA/

PTDA Joint Industry Summit
T he NIBA/PTDA Joint Industry Summit brought
together over 1,300 participants from both
associations by offering cutting edge speakers,
the latest in business and market information and
a venue to foster building relationships and net-
works that are critical to business success.

Leaders from across North America and the

world, 28 countries in total, convened in
Hollywood, Florida, September 27-30, (just two weeks after
Hurricane Irma had roared through the area) to network,
share solutions and accomplish business objectives.

Indeed, the NIBA/PTDA Joint Industry Summit was structured

around networking that enables participants from member
companies to build relationships and get business done.

Educational programming provided members with solid take-

home value, and informal networking allowed everyone to relax
and have fun in between lessons learned. This years educational
programming featured three IML Talks (which stands for Inspire.
Motivate. Lead.), a third encore for PTDA members, but a new
educational delivery format for NIBA members. Each presentation
delivered valuable information only available at this venue
followed by a Deeper Dive session later in the day so participants
could really get the knowledge they needed up close and personal
with the topic speakers.

Highlights from the Joint Industry Summit

Dr. Alan Beaulieu of ITR Economics provided specific management
objectives and accompanying recommendations to guide participants
through the next few years. He predicted a slowdown in the latter part of
2018.

The Joint MD-IDEX/Expo was well attended with over 200 booths.
More than 835 pre-scheduled meetings took place during the four-hour
session.

Letter from the President
T hanks to all NIBA members who attended the NIBA/PTDA Joint Industry Sum-
mit at the Diplomat Beach Resort in Hollywood, Florida Sept. 27-30, 2017.

This one-time, joint convention was three years in the making and proved to be
a good experience where we gained a number of new ideas in benchmarking
with PTDA. Thank you to our colleagues at PTDA for their partnership in making
this idea a reality. Despite major concerns about weather as close as two weeks
out, we were able to host a great convention for 1,333 people over four days. A
BIG thanks, also, to the new NIBA staff, for all the hard work, perseverance and
dedication to make this convention a success!

Of the 680 NIBA attendees, there were 135 spouses/guests, 222 distributor/
Bill Hornsby, fabricator members, 279 manufacturers, 26 affiliates and 18 non-members or
2017-18 NIBA President prospective members.

The NIBA Board and committee members arrived at the convention a day early
to hold meetings on Wednesday. That evening, we celebrated the now Immediate
Past-President Vernon Smith, for this outstanding work as president. Vernon led the
organization in an exemplary manner through a very busy year and always had
our organizations best intentions at heart. His vision for NIBA will help all future
leaders take the organization to the next level.

The Joint Industry Summit officially kicked off on Thursday, Sept. 28 with a joint
golf outing and everglades tour during the day. We were happy to welcome 94
first-time NIBA attendees to the New Member/First Timer Reception in the evening
which was followed by the Opening Welcome Reception. The Opening Reception
was the first time that both NIBA and PTDA groups were together during the
meeting in one room and it was powerful! To see so many attendees dedicated to
the industry in one place provided a great energy for the rest of the meeting.
