Purpose:
The purpose of this learning experience is to provide children with an opportunity of an
extended experience to explore the slime to make their favorite objects. This also gives
them an opportunity to feel the difference textures between the slime and play doh.
Observation Sample:
Last week, as the children were playing in the playground for afternoon outdoor play, a
child came up to me and said look what I have. As he said this, I asked him what he has
in his hands and he answered saying that he has slime which he got from a different
class. As he told me he was playing with slime, he had so much enjoyment on his face,
which showed that he really likes playing with slime. As he had slime in his hand,
another child also came up to me and said I also have slime with a big grin on his face.
This aspect showed that both the children really loved playing with slime which gave me
an idea of planning a similar activity with making the slime with the kids and letting
them play with it. This activity also provides the children to build on their fine motor
skills as they are using their fingers to touch the slime.
Between the discussion I had with the kindergarten teacher and the ECE, they
encouraged me to provide more of fine motor activities which helps the staff and me see
their progress.

Learning Experience: Sensory Making their favorite objects with slime and utensils
I am organizing this sensory learning experience at the sensory table with 4 bottles of
slime and at the middle of the table with a bin filled with utensils for the children to
make their favorite object with. Im going to organize the table with four chairs so more
children have the opportunity to play with the slime.
Objectives:
1. The children will develop 5.3 Fine motor skills from the Physical Domain as they
have the opportunity to use their pincer and palmer grasp to shape the slime with
their hands
2. The children will also further develop 4.5 Observing Skills from the Cognitive
Domain as they use all their senses to gather information while observing what
the activity is.
3. The children will also further develop 1.6 Cooperating Skills from the Social
Domain as the children have the opportunity to cooperate with the other children
to use the utensils within themselves.
Materials:
1 table
4 chairs
Four trays
Four small bottles of different colored and scented slime
A bin filled with utensils
Implementation:
1. I will set up the four trays with slime and a bin with utensils at the sensory table
with 4 chairs
2. I will invite the children to explore the slime and see the difference between the
textures of slime and play doh
3. I will ask some of the children some questions about how the slime feels and
what they are making with the slime and utensils
4. Throughout the activity, I will provide as much conversation with them to know
what they are making with the slime and play doh
Teaching Strategies:
Sensory Engagement:
Throughout the activity, children will gain first hand experiences as they have the
opportunity to explore how slime feels. Children will also have the opportunity to use
their hands and fingers to shape the slime and utensils.

Questions:
Throughout the activity, as the children experiment with the slime and utensils by
making their favorite object, I will provide them with some questions by asking them
what they are making with the slime, how the slime and play doh feels.
