Need for Update

Currently the CEN WANDL application is running version 6.2.0S28. We need to


update patch version 6.2.0S29 to fix wrong S/N issues reported.

Patch S29 bugs details:

IPMPLSView component:
.tmng
tmng.jar
bki.jar

Fixes:
- Fix for handling file unlock issue in SLNC task when OutOfMemoryError
occurs in TaskManager.Web Java GUI users
- PR 1300732: Hardware inventory report mismatch for one of the
transceiver when moved from one port to another

Update Plan -

Steps Activity Downtime


Step 1 Patch S29 update on Primary Server 20 min
Step 2 Patch S29 update on Secondary Server 20 min
Step 3 Rollback Plan 00 min

Each of the steps are detailed below with an explanation of the activities to be
carried out

Step 1 Patch S29 update on Primary Server

The patch installation will be done online. Once the installation done the entire
IP/MPLSview services need to be restarted.

1.1) Extract the patch: The zipped patch file will be extracted into the WANDL
server.

1.2) Install Patch: Run the ./install_patch script file to install the patch.

1.3) Restart (i.e. stop and start) of IPMPLSView to be done in cluster mode
commands mentioned below

Commands to check cluster status:
# /usr/cluster/bin/clrg status
# clresourcegroup status MPLSView-harg

Command to stop IP/MPLSVIEW cluster mode:

Stop IP/MPLSView on the application server


#/u/wandl/cluster/WANDLMPLSView/util/stopMPLSView h
<AppServClusterNodeName>

Command to start IP/MPLSVIEW cluster mode:

#/u/wandl/cluster/WANDLMPLSView/util/startMPLSView
h<AppServClusterNodeName>

The Services will be down for approximately 20 minutes.


A Server reboot may be needed if the Services are stuck while restarting.

1.4) Verify the services after patch update.

Step 2 Patch S29 update on Secondary Server

The patch installation will be done online. Once the installation done the entire
IP/MPLSview services need to be restarted.

3.1) Extract the patch: The zipped patch file will be extracted into the WANDL
server.

3.2) Install Patch: Run the ./install_patch script file to install the patch.

3.3) Verify the services after patch update.

Step 5 - Rollback plan

There is no roll-black plan in WANDL for patch installation. Customer can reach JTAC
for any issues after upgrade through a new JTAC case.
