To Freeze or Not to Freeze
Freezes Well...
Protein Dairy Produce Baked Goods

beef butter asparagus muffins
turkey cheese avocado (peeled w/lemon) unfrosted cake
lunch meat cottage cheese berries quick breads
wild game full-fat cream cheese beets yeast breads
shrimp yogurt cauliflower brownies
crab eggs (requires instructions) broccoli croutons
fish melons fruit pies (not meringue)
pork onions unglazed donuts
sausage peppers pizza
bacon cabbage (may get soggy) pizza dough
hot dogs pineapple chunks yeast dough
peaches cookie dough
garlic cake batter
mushrooms pie shells
peas

*Most produce can be frozen without problems. Some may have specific requirements or special
instructions. Check here for some specifics.

Does Not Freeze Well...

Food Item What Happens
raw greens and cabbage becomes limp and water-logged
meringue becomes rubbery, spongy
sour cream separates and becomes watery
potatoes (not in pre-cooked meal) becomes mealy, crumbling, water-logged
crumb toppings becomes soggy
frosting from egg whites becomes frothy or weepy
milk based sauces may separate or curdle
raw cucumbers becomes water-logged
fried foods becomes soggy
whole eggs in shell freezing will cause the liquid to expand and eggs will crack
