Routinary Activity
1. Simple Review/ Active Review

Teacher: Class:
Good morning class! Good morning Maam!
Hows your day? Its fine maam!
Did you still remember what we have
discussed last meeting? Yes maam!
So what is it all about?
Anyone? Yes? Student:
Maam last meeting we discussed the
different types of electrical\technical diagram
Very good.. So what are those? Yes? There are two types of electrical diagram
and these are the pictorial diagram and schematic
diagram.
Thats right very good.
So how and when can you say that the
diagram is a pictorial or schematic?
Yes? Maam we can easily identify the diagram
because of its feature wherein, in pictorial it shows
the external appearance of each component. It is
much like a photograph of the circuit and uses
simple images of parts while in schematic diagram it
shows the components of the circuit using standard
electrical symbols. It shows the actual number of
components and how the wiring is routed but not
the actual location.

Absolutely! Very good class..

2. Motivation
So now, we will proceed to our new topic
and before that I will give you an activity.
I will show you a different picture and after
that tell me your insight about the pictures.
Is that clear class? Class:
Yes maam!

So lets start

Electrical Wire

Connected Wires

Not Connected Wires

Voltage Source

Current Source

AC Voltage Source

Generator

Battery Cell
Battery

(The pictures are all about different signs and

symbols of electrical wiring. E.g. switch, fuse,
galvanometer, ammeter, voltmeter, terminal or
conductor, cell, push button, etc.)

Are you familiar with these pictures?

So what can you say? Okay yes? Class:

Yes maam!
Maam I think I saw that pictures during our
last topic in the types of electrical diagram, the
How do you say so? schematic diagram.
Those pictures are the components of
Thats correct, these pictures are all schematic diagram using standard electrical
electrical symbols of a diagram which is our topic symbols.
for today

3. Introduction of the topic

Teacher:

Class I will present our objective for this day

and these are:
At the end of 60 minutes discussion,
the students should be able to;
a. Identify and interpret the symbols and signs
of electrical diagram
b. Examine the different signs and symbols and
internalize how and when it will used
c. Organize a simple technical diagram using
signs and symbols

So class do you want to add more

objectives?
Nothing maam!
Last meeting we discussed the different
types of electrical diagram, now I will teach
you the different signs and symbols used in
diagram especially in schematic diagram
and for you can interpret and make it with
your own.

a. Developmental Activity
1. Activity

So before we proceed to our discussion lets

have first a quick activity which is related to
our topic. I will group you into 3 groups and
each group will receive an index card
where the instructions are indicated. Choose
your leader to present your output and a
secretary to write your answer in the manila
paper and this activity is good only for 5
minutes so you need to be quick and of
course and the participation of each one f
you.
Is that clear class?
You may go to your respective group.
Yes maam

Group 3

Materials:

Manila paper
Camera (cp)
Marker
tape
Instruction:

1. Visit the computer laboratory.

2. Look around and capture a picture of
warning signs that you can see inside the
computer laboratory.
3. Present it in the class through PowerPoint
presentation.

2.Analysis:
After 5 minutes
Time is up class please paste your work
group 1 and 2 in front then the group 3 will present
their output through ppt.

After reporting
Well done class.. Everybody clap your
hands.
How was it class? How did you find our
activity today? Student:
Not too easy and not too hard maam
because we have our guide which are the different
electrical symbols.

Thats good that you can interpret the

diagram correctly.
Anyway as I said earlier, I will teach you to
interpret the different electrical symbols and the
warning signs until you can make or construct your
own diagram.
So class, I have here a chart of different
electrical symbols but first, what is an electrical
symbol?
Any guess? Yes?
Maam An electronic symbol is a pictogram
used to represent various electrical and electronic
devices such as wires, batteries, resistors, and
transistors in a schematic diagram of an electrical or
Very good! electronic circuit.
Electrical Symbols are small drawings or
pictograms used to represent various electrical
devices in a diagram or plan of an electrical circuit.
These symbols are used in sketching schematic
diagrams and electrical plans for numerous types of
electrical works. Practically any electrical fixture
found in a house has a symbol that coincides to
said fixture on an electrical wiring diagram. These
are very useful guide for an electrician or electrical
contractor, thus, making the wiring easier to install
as well.
So class these are the following common
electrical symbols used in sketching wiring plan and
diagram.
So what about electrical signs? Have you
ever saw a sign or a warning signs Yes maam!

How and where you can usually saw

warning signs?
Maam warning signs are everywhere,
Very good. So what does the warning signs especially to those places that are very dangerous.
referring to or what does it tells to you?

Anyone? Yes?
Warning signs tell or inform us that those
places are very dangerous and we need to beware
for the possible consequence of it.
Very good! But since we are now in
electrical symbols, can you give me an example of
electrical warning signs that you can see especially
in the computer laboratory?

Anyone? Yes?
As we are looking around inside the
computer laboratory, we have seen different
electrical sign such as beware overhead electric
line, danger electric shock risk, observe precaution
for handling, and many more.
Thank you.

So Electrical signs and stickers alert students,

workers, and visitors to electrical hazards in the
area. Alerting workers to high voltage areas,
electrical hazards, power lines and other electrical
equipment in the area, can help prevent fires and
injuries. Proper electrical signs can inform workers of
the dangers in the area.

So here are some common electrical

symbols
3.Abstraction

So class did you now understand or interpret

a diagram?
Yes maam!
So let see.. get a piece of paper and answer
the following given questions.

After 3 minutes we will check your answer

Is that clear Class?

Yes maam
Direction:

Analyze electrical symbols and signs. A. Directions:

Match the electrical symbols in Column A to their
corresponding descriptions in Column B. Write the
letter of your answer in the space provided before
each number.

Column A Column B

a. push button

b. switch

c. wire connected

d. incandescent
lamp

e. battery

After 3 minutes

Time is up class let us check your work.

After checking..

Very good class all of you got a perfect

score. Keep up the good work class.

4. Application Thank you maam

For now class, we will have a group activity.

With the same group, you will receive again
an index card where instructions are
indicated. As usual select another
representative to present your output.

This activity is good only for 5 minutes

You may now go to your group.

GROUP 1 Yes maam!

Direction: Locate and box the different

electrical signs below. Give the meaning of
each word.

GROUP 2

Direction: Draw the electrical signs of the

following:

GROUP 3

Direction

Identify what are the meaning of different signs

enumerated below. Write your answer at the box
provided for you.

1. Safety alert

2. prohibition

3. voltage danger

4. warning

5. electrical
hazard
Maam, todays topic gives me an idea on how I will
interpret the signs and symbols of a diagram. I also
understand now the importance of the electrical
signs especially the warning signs.
C. Generalization Aside from what my classmate said, I can
also now construct an electrical diagram which I
So now class, what did you learn something can easily make a picture of it, because once you
in our topic for today? know to make it schematically, you can easily make
And what is that? Yes? as a pictorial diagram.

Very good! What else? Anyone? Yes?

D. ASSESSMENT

Very good! It seems that you really learned

in our topic, so for now please get a piece of paper
again and answer this given questions.

Instruction

E. ASSIGNMENT

Answer the following given statement.

Construct a simple electrical circuit

of the given statement
1. A battery connected to a light
