Proposed Design Title:

IOT Patient Companion

Statement of the Problem:

1. The need of a real time health monitoring for individual whom needs intensive

supervision.

2. It is time consuming and a lot costly to physically monitor a sick individual time to

time.

3. Taking of vitamins or medicine prescriptions may sometimes being forgotten to take

at the specified quantity and time.

Objectives of the Study:

1. To design a device that would monitor the heartbeat and the actual temperature of an

individual.

2. To provide a system which will allows monitoring and tracking of the health

condition of a patient over the internet.

3. To design a programmable device on which the user can input a certain drug

prescription, specify its quantity and provide a reminder of the time of intake.

4. To embed a feature that would send warning through web or SMS in times of

emergency.

Significance of the Study:

The study entitled IOT Patient Companion is a system that uses the advancement of the

technology to aid human individuals to check on their patients remotely. It can be benefitted by

the following:

Patient:

The system will allow patients heartbeat and temperature monitor. This will

secure a quicker response to the patient in times of emergency. At the same time, the

automatic medicine kit will give assurance that the drug prescription specified to the

patient will be followed accordingly.

User:

The system would significantly lessen the burden of the users or the relatives on

visiting or checking on the patient at all times. Preloading of the medicines and reminder

for drug intake may take more conveniently.

Health institution:

When someone needs an actual supervision of a doctor, the physician could easily

monitor the actual condition of the patient without going through the patient. Thus,

through the system a lot of time and effort will be saved which can be used for attending

other patients instead. At the same time, it is easier for medical practitioner to track the

past records of the patient for future purposes.

Scope of the Study:

1. The system consists of a heartbeat and temperature monitor.

2. It has a medicine kit that automatically opens and sends reminder according to time

of intake.

3. There are certain devices and android phones where users can input what certain

medicine should be take.

4. The records can be track over the internet which can only be access by allowed users.

Limitations of the study:

1. The system is intended only for heartbeat and temperature monitoring and for giving

reminder.

2. Limited medicine slot can be utilized.

3. The system cannot be accessed once there is no internet connection.
