This is the most important commercial indicator for the track. It combines the Track Rating and the Passion Rating
to give a definitive prediction of commercial success within the market. You’re looking for a minimum of 65%.

Reviewers/Sample Group

This is the group of 80 music fans and consumers who have listened to the track online and left their track rating and written review. They
are sourced from our sister site, Slicethepie and they do not know they are conducting market research when they hear the track, which
helps to achieve honest and objective responses. The sample group is selected at random and screened by their age, gender, employment
status, location, genre preferences and habits around music buying and social networking. A diverse sample group of reviewers is required
to form a "smart crowd" which ensures an accurate Track Rating. See "Wisdom of Crowds" below.

Reviews

The reviews are written by music fans and consumers based world wide who must listen to at least 60 seconds of the track before giving a
rating and writing their review. You have the option to keep the track and artist name anonymous from the Reviewers when ordering your
report.

Review Analysis

This is generated using a technology known as Computational Forensic Linguistics. It works by automatically ‘reading’ all the reviews and
identifying which aspects of the track the reviewers are commenting on. It then establishes whether the comment is positive or negative,
collates all this information and displays the result as a graph. This analysis is particularly useful when comparing different tracks by the
same artist.

Star Ratings

The higher the star rating of a Reviewer, the better they are at judging the broader consensus rating of the track. When calculating the
overall Track Rating, each Reviewer's track rating is weighted in accordance with their number of stars. For example a track rating from a 4
-star Reviewer carries four times as much influence as a track rating from a 1-star Reviewer. Public star ratings encourage diligence
among Reviewers.

Track Positioning

This evaluates how your track compares against other tracks of the same genre and presents the results graphically. Tracks are charted
according to their overall Track Rating and the consensus of opinion.

Word Cloud

This visualisation reveals what emotions and key themes the Reviewers mentioned most often in the reviews. The larger the word, the
more it was used by the Reviewers when describing the track.

Wisdom of Crowds

Wisdom of Crowds is a proven methodology that large groups of ordinary people organised under the right conditions (a "smart crowd"),
outperform small groups of experts in making decisions and predictions. It is not new. It is the science behind Google and decision-making
in some of the largest companies in the world. It has been proven time and again that collective wisdom consistently surpasses the
experts. It also means that SoundOut can guarantee 95% accuracy in Track Ratings.

The 4 conditions required to form a "smart crowd" that delivers an accurate result are:

1) Diversity of opinion: A sample group of reviewers with many different points of view makes better decisions than one where everyone
has the same information.
2) Independence: The reviewers' opinions are not influenced by others.
3) Decentralization: Answers are given by individual reviewers based on their own local and specific knowledge rather than by a central
person.
4) Aggregation: There is a way of accurately measuring the sample group's collective answer.

Age: Really enjoyed the male vocals on this track. They very much had their own stye, it was all very natual but he gave a
lovely feeling to the entire track. It was like decent indie vocals on an acoustic track. The guitar does ok, I thought
25-34 some of the other contributions could have been a little better but I thought this was good effort. 7

11-Jan-2010 15:01

Age: The start of this song was very bubbly and I thought that the starting of the lyrics was a good approach. Very good
contrast and the instruments used was in good balance with the quality of production. I really think you will go far
16-24 with this track at this time. The breezy timing and tempo was just about right. Keep up with the hard work 7

11-Jan-2010 15:37

Age: Did not like the electric guitar solo, but the vocal and the melody were excellent, great expression the beat sounded
strong and unique too.

Age: This almost has a reggae type feel to it and bounds along quite nicely. I really did enjoy the vocals which were very
distinct and clear and made the track stand out.
35-44 9
The backing track really had quita a lot to it which always helps to make it interesting and the whole composition
was pretty good.

The longer the song went on, the more i got into it. This track has huge commercial possibilities.

11-Jan-2010 12:14

Age: I thought the track had a really great sound. There was quite a unique structure to the track and that made it stand
out more. The vocals were puncuated well with the beat and it was a fun listen.

11-Jan-2010 13:03

Age: A very high quality track. Crystal clear recording of the lead vocal in particular. I really liked the tone of the vocals
throughout and as I say, overall sounded very professional. Good work!
16-24 8

11-Jan-2010 13:24

Age: the really upbeat sound of this track and the light hearted musical instruments used create a great inclusion effect
and the lead singers voice as well is not the usual which adds a dynamic effect to this track that brings with it some
16-24 great sounds 8

11-Jan-2010 13:51

Age: This is a great track with very good potential to do well. The music had me tapping my fingers straight away and the
music and lyrics went together very well. I could see myself singing along to this song in the car, very catchy!

11-Jan-2010 14:50

Age: Excellent different use and sound of music in this song from the very start, its superb to listen to and find the rythm
in. I really enjoyed listeing to the oustanding, positive and totally refreshing style of the singers voice.

11-Jan-2010 15:18

Age: Just when I think I've heard the best from this artist, he comes up with another amazing song. The vocals are the
best I've ever heard, very tranquillic and beautiful and those instrumentals are amazing. Not sure what those are,
35-44 but they sound far from ordinary. 7

11-Jan-2010 15:45

Age: I thought that this track was very good throughout, realyl chilled and mellow to listen to. The vocalsa re a bit loud in
some places though, they could do with toning it down a little to maintain the more caalming style of the rest of the
16-24 traack. The mledoies are really cool thouh and the beat is very steady throughout. The energy that th epiece has iss 7
sueprb and the layerin gis quite effective.

11-Jan-2010 15:52

Age: I liked the bcking and te vocal was fine, if not a tad winey at times. Its very Jack Johnson, not a bad thin but not very
new or diferent. I preferred your other tracks to be honest, you need a slightly dfferent sog to add interest to a whole
35-44 album 7

11-Jan-2010 15:54

Age: You have just gotta love thesound that these guys generate. To an almost reggae beat the song skips along nicely
to the strains of a lone guitar. the backing voices that come in compliment well and this results in a lovely depth of
35-44 sound especially on the chorus - ending could be crisper, but i could be being a bit too picky 8

2 Star Reviewers
11-Jan-2010 10:50

Age: The singer has a solid voice and my attention was captured from the beginning of the song. The tune is soothing
and very calming.
25-34 8

11-Jan-2010 11:06

Age: i did not really enjoy this track, it is very slow and hush hush. the artist needs to breathe a new leash of life into the
song, the melody is very boring, the track becomes daunting to listen to, it needs some creativity.
35-44 4

11-Jan-2010 11:09

Age: I enjoyed the tempo of this track as well as the vocals and the arrangement, add to that the very good lyrics and you
have a very listenable track that I would enjoy time and again.
35-44 7

11-Jan-2010 11:17

Age: Very nice melodic pop song. Loved the intro. Great clear separation in the mix. All the instruments are played well.
Vocals are slick and in tune Interesting style. Bright Chorus.
35-44 7

11-Jan-2010 11:18

Age: Music was very laidback in sound and feel but would have liked to hear abit more of a piunch to the performance.
Sounded alittle one dimensional. Vocals were sweet and tuneful in sound and had a nice flow to it
25-34 5

11-Jan-2010 11:34

Age: beautiful song, sounds very professional and lead singer has great voice. melody really catchy and reminds me of
Jason Mraz

Age: Great track, good lyrics good sound. It builds up well, changes and is exciting. I would listen to this all the time.
Original and a great track.
16-24 8

11-Jan-2010 12:39

Age: I like the happy skipping rythmn of this track, the vocals are distinctive and interesting and the twangy guitar was
effective. I didn't like the backing vocals though, they were a bit high and squeaky.
16-24 7

11-Jan-2010 13:30

Age: full force with drums and guitars that rip, combining
punk and metal for an explosive opener to the flavor
25-34 of the hot mix master 6

11-Jan-2010 14:51

Age: THE singing still needed some more work in the high notes, they weren't quite getting it, guitar playing was fairly
strong and holding down the structure
25-34 5

11-Jan-2010 15:48

Age: Another good acoustic track from who I assume is Ian Britt? Not as good as the previous 2 but still great abilities are
there for all to hear. The guy sounds set up, good production qualities and the backing female vocals are just perfect.
25-34 7

11-Jan-2010 15:58

Age: Though there are a few weird things on this song (the vocals feel a little loud, for instance, and the backup vocals
strike me as a little odd), I think this is a decent song. A better mix might make this perfect.

11-Jan-2010 10:52

Age: nice song. like the vocals from both singers, go well togehter. good beat and like the chorus. good east to listen to
song.
16-24 8

11-Jan-2010 11:08

Age: This is a really nice song. It is very current and has plenty of commercial promise. The lyrics lead you through the
story of the song and offset the bouncy and almost summery feel of the song. My only concern is that the vocalist at
25-34 times can sound a little nasally. It certainly doesn't cause the track any major problems and could be recified just 7
through breathing exercises, but worth keeping an eye on.
SoundOut page 13

11-Jan-2010 11:47

Age: Anyone told you you sound like Michael Buble? This, to me, sounds like soundtrack material, maybe perhaps for a
rom com? Just my personal opinion. The addition of the female backing singers brings a fresh flavour to this track,
16-24 maybe thats a direction you would consider going in the future? Or maybe you already have haha. This is cute, 8
something people can hum, definately radio material for sure.

11-Jan-2010 11:50

Age: addictive raw voice, not like some of the artists that have over produced and electronicly manipulated songs. Well
bulilt song, love the guitar and backing singer collaboration. Dissapointed it finishes at 3:23. A good mix of acoustic
16-24 to voice, one to watch! 8

11-Jan-2010 12:18

Age: Pretty decent sounds, would prefer something abit more up beat. Decent chill out track though Nice chill out beat.

25-34 5

11-Jan-2010 12:37

Age: I really like this track. It's upbeat and current. The artist has a nice voice and the lyrics are very good. The music is
catchy, found myself tapping my foot to it. I would definately put this track on my ipod and would say it's worth a
16-24 listen! 8

11-Jan-2010 12:44

Age: Great song. Really catchy meoldy that had me humming along. It felt like a familiar song that you haven't heard for
years but still makes you stop and listen to when you hear it. Good lyrics too but couldn't catch all of them - would
35-44 definitely like to hear it again. 8

11-Jan-2010 14:01

Age: great voice, slow music which is quiet good like old 80s or something and the song track is really nice! cheers

16-24 10

11-Jan-2010 15:02

Age: upbeat track to rather sad lyrics works rather well lifting spirits
liking this track bit of a grower
25-34 clear lyrics 6
ending rather sudden

11-Jan-2010 15:23

Age: I really enjoying listening to this artist, his voice is complimentary. This song is good although it seems to lack
harmonies and more melodys. The music also sounds very computerised.
16-24 6
SoundOut page 14

11-Jan-2010 15:37

Age: The slow and methodic pace of the track shows how the artist be takes great care to tell a story as much as they like
to play very good music. And the mixture of country folk, reggae, and Pink Floyd styled music shows the range that
16-24 this group can go. Very well done, and can't wait to here more from them. 8
