Stage: Lesson procedure: Tutors comments:

1. Introduce the topic of reef conservation through a video

2. T forms two sentences with PPS & PPC tenses (affirmative


form) on the board/ppt relating to conservation.
- SS to identify main verb and participle form in each
sentence and elicit they are in PPS/PPC.
- Contrast with past simple and elicit the difference.
- SS to work from the same sentences but form them in the
negative and question forms for both PPS & PPC. Class
activity.
- 10 mins
3. T asks SS what activities / sports they do in order to use
the tense naturally
- Each student to form the PPS/PPC in affirmative / negative /
question form.
- 10 mins.
4. Review of A/N/Q forms and pair exercise
- Class review of A/N/Q forms.
- SS to work in pairs and complete the handout.
- Check as a class.
- Remind students to look out for time-expressions.
- 5 mins.
5. WB Exercise 1
- Ask SS to identify the verbs and elicit they are in PPS/PPC
and contrast to past simple.
- Elicit from SS when to use PPS and PPC.
- Remind students to look out for time expressions when
matching up answers for PPC.
- Ask a SS to read the Be Careful prior to doing exercise.
- SS to work in pairs to complete
- Check as a class.

6. WB Exercise 2
- SS to complete exercise E as a class.
- Get SS to explain why the wrong answers are not
applicable.

7. WB Exercise 3
- SS to complete individually and check as a class.
- 3 mins
8. T gives an example of when PPS and PPC are used in the
same sentence to revise and wrap up PPS and PPC.
