Hypothesis Testing Project

The Project: You will design and conduct your own hypothesis test. You may
choose the topic and claim for your test, but you must design your test so that it can
answer one of the following questions:
-Is there a difference in two population averages?
-Is an average higher, lower, or different from a certain claim?

(20 points) The Written Report: The written report must be typed, double-
spaced using 12-point font. The report should include the following sections (clearly
labeled):
A. Introduction and Methodology: What is the question you are trying to
answer? Why did you choose that question? Explain how you chose your
sample and collected the data for the test.

B. Results: Describe each step of your test: listing the sample size and
average(s) found, the hypotheses, calculating the test statistic (z- or t-score),
and the p-value. Set your own level of significance.

C. Conclusions: What can you conclude from your hypothesis test, and how
would you interpret your conclusion? Was this the conclusion what you were
expecting? Did you encounter any problems during your project? Would you
do anything different if you were to repeat your test?

(5 points) Class Presentation: Both members need to participate equally.

You should have some visual aid to help with the explanation of your hypothesis
test. Approximately 3 minutes.

Due date:
-Written Report and Class Presentations: Thursday April 13. Your report
must be printed and ready to hand in at the start of class.
