it deal with anything of a supernatural character.
It is a plain statement of the way numbers
influence your life and your actions.

For centuries, people have known that num-


bers possess mysterious properties; but how
those properties could be controlled or used to
advantage has only recently come to light.

In the following pages, the author tells how


every reader may derive interest and benefits by
using numbers intelligently.

CHAPTER I

HOW TO USE NUMEROLOGY


NUMEROLOGY is the science of numbers. It is a
very old science, dating back to the early days of
the Egyptians, if not to a time even before then.
For reasons unknown, the science became for-
gotten during several centuries and it is only
recently that its philosophy has been revived in
the popular mind.

During all those dormant years, people cer-


tainly knew that numbers had a force of their
own, for they spoke of the luck brought by
three, the ill-fortune of thirteen and that seven
gave some indication that a thing was perfect.
There were many other notions about numbers,
but the knowledge was unconnected or dis-
jointed, and no real use could be made of it.

Thanks to the work of classical and other


students, the science has been brought out of its

oblivion and we are now able to apply all that it


teaches to the requirements of modern life.

Briefly, the science of numerology claims that


everybody is controlled by his or her own
particular number and, by using that number, he
or she may derive incalculable benefits. More-
over, numerology shows that most things in this
world have their own special number, too.
Thus, it is possible to find the relationship
between people and things and, having found
the relationship, to determine whether they are
harmonious or antagonistic. And, of course,
when this has been done, an individual will
know exactly how to proceed under varying
circumstances.

This last paragraph may not be as clear to the


casual reader as we would wish, so in order to
make it perfectly simple, it will be useful to take
an example or two. First, let us suppose that on
a certain day you have an important engagement
it may be that you are to be interviewed for a
post or even that you are planning to be married
on that day. It, of course, may be any event that
is of great importance to you. By means of
numerology, you will start by finding the num-
ber of that particular day and, then, follow that
up by working out, if you have not already done
so, your own special number.

If the two numbers happen to be the same,


there is every reason to suppose that what takes

place will be for your good; but if the numbers


are different, you will have to consider them
carefully.

It must not be concluded from this that the


chances for good fortune are much fewer than
they are for ill fortune. You may argue that only
one number can be the same as your own per-
sonal number, while several can be different.
Numerology is not as simple as that. Not only
are certain numbers good, as far as you are
concerned, but others are perhaps beneficial,
some are adverse and others are merely un-
satisfactory. Thus, there are several classes of
numbers and all have to be considered.

Before we deal with the good and the other


classes, it will be necessary to explain that
numerology only recognises the numbers one
to nine, calling them primary numbers and
regarding all others as being compound num-
bers, which can be reduced to primary numbers.

Thus:

(a) 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 are primary


numbers.

(b) 10 is a compound number and can be


turned into a primary number by adding up the
figures which go to form it. Thus 1 + 0 = 1.
Therefore, numerology regards the number 10
exactly as if it were 1.

(c) Similarly, 11 is a compound number. By


adding together the figures, you have 2.

(d) To take another number at random, say


56, we have 5 + 6 = 11. But as 11 is, itself, a
compound number, it is necessary to continue
the addition and 1 + 1 gives 2. Thus, the
signification in numerology attached to 56 is 2.

(e) In the same way 3998 adds up to 29, but


2 + 9 is 11; and 1 + 1 is 2. From this it is
clear that any number can be resolved into one
of the nine primaries.

Now, as regards the classification of good and


bad numbers:

(a) A number that is the same as your own


personal number will work for your good.
Thus, suppose your own number is 4 and the
number attached to a date in which you are
interested is also 4; then you may expect what-
ever happens on that date to materialise bene-
ficially towards you. Just how you arrive at
your own number and the date number will be
explained later on.

(b) A number that vibrates to your own num-


ber is, also, advantageous to you. Before you
can determine exactly the extent of the advan-
tage, it is necessary to examine the circum-
stances which provide the vibrating number.
This matter is, also, dealt with fully later on, but
here it will be explained that the number which
vibrates to your own is the figure that has to be
added to your personal number to give a total
of 10.

(c) In addition, there are what is known as


attraction numbers. These show some ten-
dency to be helpful, but how much they will
help depends on circumstances.

(d) Lastly, there are numbers that are abso-


utely hostile. Thus:

Thus, there are four classes of numbers that


you have to compare with your own, in order to
come to a conclusion as to whether a certain
event or thing will be beneficial to you, or not.
There is (a) the similar number, (b) the vibrating
number, (c) the attraction number and (d) the
disagreement number.

In order to make all this a little more explicit,


we will suppose that your personal number is 3
and that you are anxious to know whether a
certain day will be a fortunate one for you. This
is how you will proceed to find out.

(a) When the numerology number of the day is 1.

One is not the same as your personal number;


it is not given as a vibrating number for 3, nor
is it one of the attraction or disagreement num-
bers for 3. Thus, you may conclude that there
is no particular good luck or bad luck in the
date for you.

(b) When the numerology number of the day is 2.

Exactly the same conditions apply as in (a)


above.

(c) When the numerology number of the day is 3.

As this number is the same as your own per-


sonal number, you may look forward to the best
of chances.

(d) When the numerology number of the day is 4.

Four disagrees with 3, therefore you will pre-


are for nothing in the way of good fortune.

(e) When the numerology number of the day is 5.

Five is one of the attraction numbers for 3 and


you will know that forces are at work to help
you.

(f) When the numerology number of the day is 6.

The same as (e) above.

(g) When the numerology number of the day is 7.

Seven is the vibrating number of 3 and you


may expect to have assistance in procuring what
you require.

(h) When the numerology number of the day is 8.

This will be the same as explained for (d)


above.

(i) When the numerology number of the day is 9.

This will be the same as explained for (e)


above.

All this, of course, is how a person whose


number is 3 should reason. The same process
will naturally be employed for any other number,
but obviously the results will be different.
CHAPTER II

YOUR PERSONAL NUMBER

AS was explained in the previous chapter,


everybody has his or her own personal number
and, no doubt, you are anxious to find out what
yours happens to be. There is really nothing
difficult in translating a name into its number,
once the process is known. It depends on the
fact that every letter of the alphabet is assigned
a numeral value. Here are the values:

From the above, it will be seen that, for


reasons already stated, no letter has a higher
value than 9. It will, also, be noted that PH is
represented by 6. This is the only case where
two letters have a combined and not a separate
value. It is easy to see that the reason for this
depends on an adherence to the Greek alphabet
which had an individual letter for this sound.

To show how you can use the above table for


finding out your number or that of anybody else,
we will take an example. Suppose you want to
know the number that stands for Patricia. First,
set down the name thus:

The, below each letter, write its numerical


value by referring to the table, thus:

Many people then add up the figures and


resolve the answer into a primary number, if the
addition, as in this case, happens to give a com-
pound number. This method would provide
some sort of answer, but a more accurate plan,
and the one we advise, is to resolve the figuring
into the form of an inverted pyramid. This
shape has, of course, a mysterious influence
which even the Egyptians appreciated but did not
understand when they built the famous Pyramids.

This pyramid numbering works out in the


present instance, as follows:

Thus, Patricias number is 3. Now for the


explanation as to how the pyramid worked.
The first line of figures was obtained, as already
explained, by using the alphabet table. The
second line was produced by taking the top line
and adding the figures together in pairs. Thus,
the 7 and 1 in the top line gave the 8 in the
second line; the 1 and 2 in the top line gave the
3 in the second; and so on, remembering, of
course, to resolve compound answers into
primary figures, whenever necessary. Thus, the
2 and 9 in the top line gives 11, which resolves
itself into 2, and becomes the third figure of the
second line.

When the second line has been completed, a


third line is worked in the same way, and this is
followed by subsequent lines until, at last, one
figure only is reached. Of course, the number of
lines needed to resolve a name into a figure
depends on the number of letters in the name.
A name such as Ada can be resolved in far fewer
lines, as the following shows:

Though Patricia is represented by 3 and Ada


by 1, the figuring must not be left at that.
Patricia and Ada have other names as well and
they should be all taken into account. Adas

full name may be Ada Mary Smith. In that case


the three names, Ada, Mary and Smith must all
be resolved separately by means of three pyra-
mids into their own numbers. Then, when that
has been done, the three numbers have to be
added together and, if necessary, resolved into a
primary number. That primary number will be
Ada Mary Smiths personal number, which she
should refer to whenever she wishes to make use
of the benefits of numerology.

Here is the full solution for this particular


name:

Gathering up the three separate figures, 1,


5 and 6, we have a total of 12, which gives 3 as
its primary number.

dictionary arrangement of Christian names,
with their appropriate numbers, is given.
Reference to it will save time when desirous of
finding the value of any particular persons
name.]
CHAPTER III

NUMBER ONE
NOW that you know your own personal number,
or have the means of finding it, you will be
interested to learn for what it stands. In this and
the eight following chapters, the interpretations
of the nine primary numbers are set out.

Number One is symbolised by the Sun and the


Deity, and is regarded as the strongest and most
powerful number of all. It stands for force,
boldness and activity, as well as for powers of
organising and executive ability.

From this, it is clear that people who are


favoured with the personal number of one have
the initial force to make their mark in the world.
They have the strength of body and of mind to
go ahead and reach the goal they have in view,
as long as the way is straight and there are
no side-issues to draw them from the main
purpose.

They are headstrong people and always do


their best when left to their own devices. Thus,
the parents of such individuals must refrain from
curbing the legitimate enthusiasm of their sons

and daughters who have one as their number. If


they do set a brake on their actions, the results
may be disastrous. The sons or daughters will
probably curl up within their shell and give no
further signs of brilliant activity.

Many people, with one as their number, have


all the strength and ability that is usually accre-
dited to the number, yet they fail to climb the
ladder of success. To their friends, this is a
matter of much surprise, because the abilities of
such people are manifestly present. This is a
frequent sign of Number One and is due to the
fact that those who come within its influence
must find the work for which they are specially
fitted, if they are to make a success of their lives.
They are not people to effect a compromise and
do the best under the circumstances. They are
all-or-nothing people.

Though Number One confers great oppor-


tunities on those who can claim it as their own,
it must not be supposed that it has no drawbacks.
Associated with it are the defects of limited
vision, petulance, selfishness, officiousness and a
tendency to be unsympathetic regarding the
views of others.

Accordingly, we are apt to find that those who


advance high up the ladder of fame are likely to
be harsh with those beneath them and, more-
over, they are easily irritated by people who have
not the initial advantages that they possess.

There is a very obvious streak of selfishness in


those who can claim one as their number. It
shows itself in petty ways, quite unworthy of
those who betray them. In fact, to the onlooker,
it is rather surprising and difficult to understand.

Another failing associated with number


one people is the way they express their views.
They hold that what they say is law and everyone
who differs from them must be wrong.

Regarding love matters and all that is con-


nected with this side of human nature, number
one people are usually very attractive. They
have the ability to display their charms to advan-
tage and the force of character needed for
gaining their ends. But they want to rule in
partnership and, in cases where things do not
work out exactly as they wish, they are bad
losers.

We have now stated the characteristics of a


number one person; but it does not follow
that, if this is your personal number, you are
bound to be as we have described. All the
qualities mentioned here will form part of your
make-up, but some of them you may push
into the background and they will not appear.
You may even repudiate that you ever had them.
None the less, they exist, either in evidence or in
a dormant condition; and it depends entirely
on you which of them you will bring to the fore
and which you will suppress.
CHAPTER IV

NUMBER TWO
NUMBER TWO has the Moon for its symbol. It
stands for peace rather than force; for the heart
more than the mind. It betokens quiet, calm, a
restful influence and it radiates charm, affection
and honesty.

People who can claim this number as their


own have much about them that is admirable.
They will not soar to the heights attained by
Number One, but they will play a very useful
part in the world, nevertheless. Their mission
is to strive along peaceful lines, to help their
neighbours rather than to help themselves.
Thus, others often gain where they should reap
the benefits.

It must not be thought that the qualities of


number two people will pass unrecognized.
Quite the contrary. Friends and others will come
to them for advice and guidance, and, when they
have obtained it, they will go away and use it to
advantage. But the number two people lack
some special quality which precludes them from
using, to the same extent, their own ideas and

suggestions. Thus, they suffer from reticence


and, often, from a mild form of inferiority
complex.

Those who can claim two as their own num-


ber are remarkably unselfish. They will never
begrudge the time spent on helping others, and
they have unbounded sympathy for those whose
lot is less favourable than their own. As an out-
come of this trait, the adult Number Two is
usually fond of children. The parent will slave
for his youngsters and go without, cheerfully, in
order that they may not want.

Thus, number two people are good home-


makers. To them, the home is the centre of their
own little universe and they are never so happy
as when they are reading a book by the fireside
or helping the kiddies with their toys. They do
not want to gad about; they have no need for
clubs and bridge parties; they are happier when
indulging in simple delights than when imbibing
the champagne of life.

Number two people have one outstanding


quality which must not be overlooked. They are
ideal peacemakers. It will fall to their lot, time
and again, to bring those who have grievances
to a more rational frame of mind.

So far, we have been considering the favour-


able side of the picture supplied by those whose
personal number is two. There is, nevertheless,
the other point of view. These people have one

glaring fault, which is indolence. It is easy to see


why they suffer from this defect. They are peace-
ful souls; they love calm and quiet; they hate
hurry and bustle; therefore what could be more
in harmony with these characteristics than a
tendency to let matters slide? If it requires a
display of energy to do anything to-day, the
probability is that it will be left till to-
morrow, and as we all know, to-morrow never
comes.

To marry anyone with two as his or her number


would be to go through life with a very lovable
partner. There would be no calling over the
coals when things went wrong; no cases of
flaring-up when faults came to light; life
would unfold itself placidly. All this, of course,
makes for peace and harmony; but it is doubtful
whether many people would not prefer a partner
who displayed more fire and a more pugnacious
temperament. It depends entirely on the indi-
vidual.

The traits we have mentioned here are those


that will influence all people with two as their
personal number. Environment can play its
part, and to an extent will possibly do so, in
effacing some of the characteristics and bringing
others to the fore. That explains why everybody
having two as his or her number is not alike as
two peas.
CHAPTER V

NUMBER THREE
THIS number has Mars for its symbol. It is
considered to be a joy-giving numeral when used
advantageously, and a warring figure when the
reverse is the case. At best, it is typical of happi-
ness, merriment, good cheer, pleasure, inspira-
tion, even ecstasy. At worst, it spells quarrels,
violence, anguish.

From this, it will be seen that people who have


three as their personal number possess character-
istics of two very opposite kinds. The best of
such people cleverly combine the two kinds, and
strength rises out of the union. They can be
friendly and joyful when the occasion demands,
and they can be a powerful foe when attacked
by an enemy.

This dual nature has generate a forceful


character. As they can fight or be friends,
whichever is needed, it follows that they are
ready to turn from one extreme to the other,
without being unduly put out. This trait runs
through their whole nature and, if one thing
fails, they can turn to another and be equally at

home. All this accounts for the fact that num-


ber three people seldom come to grief on the
rocks.

People with this number live in a hurry. They


have no time for dawdling. Consequently, they
make the most of their chances, because they see
to it that opportunities do not slip by. If success
does not come in their direction quickly enough,
they go out to find it.

At all times, they look on the bright side of


life, with the result that they radiate happiness
wherever they go. They do their business with a
smile and they take to their sports in the same
cheery way. In the latter, they can suffer a
beating in the same spirit as they would carry
off a victory.

But, on the other side of the picture, there is a


somewhat different account. Number three
people are the children of Mars, who was the god
of war. The outcome of this is that they are
quick to quarrel and show the spirit of defiance.
They will never suffer an affront silently for the
sake of peace. Peace, to them, is a sign of weak-
ness and they glory in their strength.

In spite of all this bellicose tendency, there is


nothing in their nature that makes them cruel
or underhand. If there is to be a fight and it
rests with them, it will be a clean one and, as
likely as not, they will shake hands with the
enemy when it is all over.

Number three people are often found to


have leanings towards literature, acting, dancing,
singing, music and painting, as well as boxing,
fencing, shooting, and gymnastics in general.

To marry one of these people would be to


have a partner who would prove to be as true as
steel. He or she would defend the honour and
the comforts of what was his own with his last
drop of blood. Such a person would shed a good
deal of happiness in the home; but once there
arose a storm, a real storm it would be. There
would be no capitulating on his part.

Such is the story of a number three person.


The characteristics we have enumerated will be
born within him or her; but how time and
circumstance will influence those traits depends
entirely on the individual concerned.

CHAPTER VI

NUMBER FOUR
THIS number owes its allegiance to Mercury,
the smallest of all planets. Number four
people have a varied assortment of qualities
some good and others less attractive, but none
of a spectacular nature.

The chief asset of these people is their know-


ledge. As a rule, they have an almost uncanny
aptitude for acquiring facts. This, coupled with
an excellent memory, makes them well informed.
Therefore, they take up positions in the world
where facts and figures stand them in good stead.

Number four people are not suited for


filling executive posts or being the big brains
of a vast concern. They cannot sit in an office
and direct a thousand workers, but they can
stand at the elbow of the man who does direct
the thousand workers and give him all the
information he needs for his job.

Though they have intelligence in abundance,


they lack originality and inventive genius and,
on that account, they have often been styled the
hewers of wood and the drawers of water.

But, do not imagine that number four


people are downhearted or disappointed because
they cannot climb to the top of the tree. Some
people shrink from authority and power those
who are guided by the figure four do.

Their habit of acquiring facts and tit-bits of


information asserts itself in curious ways. One
is that they become busybodies, the gossips of
the neighbourhood and, in extreme cases, the
scandalmongers.

Though they have no love for power, they


have a strong desire for gaining possessions.
They do not throw their money about, but they
save it up and, with it, buy the things for which
they have a weakness. With their savings, they
buy house property, land, stocks and shares, or
they may be content to surround themselves
with nice things, such as antique furniture,
objets dart, and so on. In almost every case, the
acquisitive habit is plainly in evidence.

Another strong characteristic of number


four people is their constructive ability. They
are able to make things with their hands. Natur-
ally, what they put together will differ enor-
mously in different cases; but one will be able
to construct a fine piece of furniture; another
will have the facility for binding a book in
vellum; a third, if of the female sex, will know
how to make her dresses look like models from
Number Four 31

Paris, and yet a fourth will knit a jumper equal to


the best displayed in Bond Street.

Number four people are rovers. They like


to travel and they like to go about and see
things. The home means less to them than it
does to most people, and they look upon their
place of abode as little more than somewhere to
rest and somewhere in which they can work.
The halo of a real home is unknown to them.

When it comes to morning, those who claim


four as their number are not lacking in attention.
They will expect their partner to be near to per-
fection, and they will try to give perfection in
exchange. Of course, they seldom succeed, but
the effort is in the right direction and makes for
harmony on five days out of six.

When tempers are ruffled, which fortunately


is not often, they are rather morose and it takes
them a considerable while to regain their normal
balance. Usually, they are generous, careful and
considerate; and, in the case of their children,
they are particularly anxious to provide them
with a good start in life.
CHAPTER VII

NUMBER FIVE
NUMBER FIVE is linked to the planet Jupiter and
those whose number it is are mainly fortunate.
They have an array of characteristics which can
place them in the front rank. Defects, in their
case, are few.

Number Five stands for riches, productive-


ness, fulness and success. Translated into every-
day words, this means that people who claim five
as their natural number have the ability to
succeed in the world and make money, as a
consequence. Such people are the ones who
gradually climb up and up until they reach the
top, where they are the envy of their less for-
tunate brethren.

In spite of all this, Number Five has uncer-


tainty as one of its characteristics. As a result,
those who have climbed to the top of the ladder
can never be certain that they will stay there.
At any moment, even when least expected, they
may tumble to the bottom of the ladder, and their
efforts have to be started all over afresh. Typical
cases of such catastrophes occur when some

old-established business suddenly merges with a


rival house and all the heads are no longer
wanted. The redundant staff will be found to
consist of number five people.

Two other qualities belonging to those whose


number is five are hopefulness and confidence.
These have no value in themselves; but they
enable those people who possess them to work
with a keener will for success, and they are able
to look on the bright side of things. Thus,
number five people are cheery, cheerful,
jolly, satisfied individuals.

There is a very decided element of generosity


in these people. They will share their last far-
thing with anyone who needs succour. But, it is
not a far cry from generosity to extravagance
and number five people often show the
latter fault. We all know the type of person who
cannot help spending whatever money he has.
Such individuals belong, mostly, to the ranks of
Number Five. In addition to generosity, they
have sympathy and benevolence.

As a rule, these people are clear thinkers


and they show logic and reason in their argu-
ments and actions. These qualities are, of
course, valuable in any walk of life, and all who
possess them are sought after for advice and
assistance.

One of the outstanding failures of the num-


ber five adherents is that they may be restless

people. It cannot be said that they all possess


this defect, though very many of them do. This
often causes them to throw up their life-work
and start afresh at something else. Also, it makes
them pine for the green fields when they are
sitting at home and, if they are lucky enough to
visit the green fields, they want to get home
again. To stick at anything long is irksome to
them and requires the greatest effort.

When Number Five falls in love, he does it in


no half-measures. He will be courteous to a
degree and very ardent; but do not make too
sure of him until he has proved his constancy.
Remember that he is a restless soul and, though
he is perhaps burning with ardour to-day,
to-morrow there may come a chilling frost and
he will ask to be released from his bondage. If
he is able to put his restless streak in his charac-
ter aside, he will make an excellent lover and a
dignified one in the bargain. And, of course,
women have just the same outlook as men in
these matters.
CHAPTER VIII

NUMBER SIX
NUMBER SIX is guarded over by the planet
Venus; consequently, the people who claim
this number as their own find their strength in
peaceful rather than warlike avocations.

To summarise the qualities of the number


six people, we may state them as being peace,
happiness, optimism and material well-being.

These people are in the fortunate position of


having the facility for combining some of the
best characteristics of Number Two with the
finest traits of Number Three. Thus, they are
able to show a peaceful nature without any dis-
play of weakness. They can avoid troubles and
not appear to be running away from them.

Their sense of optimism gives them a great


advantage. They can look on the bright side of
things and hope for the best. As everybody
knows, half of the troubles of this world are
those we anticipate and which never actually
arise. The number six people waste no time
on the possible worries; their optimism pre-
cludes them from doing anything so silly. They

wait until misfortunes actually take place and


then they use their strength to overcome them.

Of course, optimism can be carried too far,


and there is no doubt that some of the number
six people display it to a fault. They are the
ones who lock the stable door after the horse has
been stolen.

Since Number Six is opposed to warlike pur-


Suits, it is easy to understand why it is a symbol of
social and domestic virtues. Adherents of this
number are, therefore, people who like company
and entertaining. Their homes are places of
welcome, where friends foregather for pleasures
and merriment.

As an outcome of this characteristic, it will be


found that number six people are fond of music,
singing, dancing and everything that is embraced
by the word, rhythm.

All this must not be taken to mean that these


people are the pleasure-loving kind that have no
thought for the realities of life. Quite the con-
trary. Though they revel in social and domestic
pursuits, they have a strong leaning towards the
cultural arts and to learning. They are, as a rule,
well educated and keenly interested in the ques-
tions of the day.

It must be admitted that they are not too prac-


tical and, therefore, the whirlwind type of busi-
ness man is not among their number. Neverthe-
less, it should not be thought that number

six people do not get on in the world. They do


and, very often, they succeed in acquiring a posi-
tion which provides them with plenty of this
worlds riches.

If the adherents of Number Six display any


faults, it is in being too optimistic and too con-
tented with the present lot. The latter is the out-
come of a peaceful frame of mind, which in itself
is good; but it lulls the individual into a false
sense of security. And, while he is gracefully
sleeping, his rivals are leaving him behind in the
race.

In matters connected with marriage, the people


who claim Number Six as their own are remark-
ably attractive. They are eminently fair and just,
and they do not expect the impossible. They
appreciate the blessings and favours which
come their way, and they know how to overlook
faults. The home is everything to them and they
are never so happy as when they can enjoy it to
the full.
CHAPTER IX

NUMBER SEVEN
SATURN is the planet which controls this number.
It provides an abundance of signs which go to
prove that seven is not nearly such a lucky
number as many people suppose. True, the
number has its good qualities; but they are far
fewer than is usually conceived by the popular
imagination.

The adherents of Number Seven are generally


of a philosophical nature. They accept the
inevitable and do not complain when it brings
them misfortunes. They are stoics, for when pain
and troubles become their lot, they grin and bear
them. They put up with almost any and every
form of reverse and show few signs of the ordeal.

From all this, it will be realised that the


Adherents of Number Seven are quiet, resigned
people. They do not cry for the moon, nor do
they hope for the wealth of Ind. If fortune
comes their way, they accept it humbly; if it
passes them by, they bow to the inevitable. It is
all much the same to them.

As a matter of fact, number seven people


have more than their share of troubles and
reverses; but their powers of resignation enable
them to bear them silently, and a casual observer
would not notice that anything was amiss. Thus
it is that friends and relations of people with this
number should keep a watchful eye over them,
and spare no pains in making their lot more
attractive.

This last remark about friends brings us to a


very curious characteristic in the nature of
number seven people. It is that they have the
power to cast off their own natural traits and
assume those of people who mean much to them
or who are in close touch with them. A num-
ber seven wife, for instance, will lose her own
identity and take on that of her husband, if he
has some other natural number, and if she regards
him as everything on earth that matters. Simi-
larly, if two women live together and exist for
each other, it will be found that, should one of
them have the Number Seven, her nature will
gradually change and be remodelled into the
number possessed by the other woman. From all
this, it is apparent that the seven people
make fast friends and deep friendships.

As a rule, the adherents of seven do not lack


money and the necessaries of life their steady
outlook preserves them from actual want but,
on the other hand, they are not born to be rich,

unless in the process of years they cast off their


natural numbers for some other.

There has long been an idea that seven was


lucky. How such an idea ever arose, when con-
trary facts are so abundantly clear, is difficult to
understand. However, there is just this to be
said: Seven can be lucky at times; but, when it
is, it will be found that the luck is afforded at the
expense of another persons misfortune. This
robs the luck of its glamour.

Where marriage is concerned, the position is


difficult to describe in a few words. A number
seven person generally changes almost entirely,
for the reasons previously stated, except in the
cases where the two partners do not get on well
together. Then, there will be little or no change.
The change, if it takes place, will bring the
number seven person into closer union with
his or her partner. But it must not be forgotten
that two people may possess the same qualities
and yet be different. Their personal presentation
of the same qualities accounts for the difference.
CHAPTER X

NUMBER EIGHT
THIS IS the number which Uranus influences. It
is, in the main, a very favourable number, giving
to those who shelter under it many valuable
privileges.

People having eight as their number are people


of resolution. They set a high standard for them-
selves and they strain every nerve to attain their
goal. They have large capacities for organisation
and thus they usually succeed in business. But
their organising ability is not confined to the busi-
ness; they are the people who run everything,
whether it is a local society or just a family party.

Coupled with their powers of organising, they


have a keen insight into the ways of men and
women; thus, they are able to sum up character
and read peoples thoughts. Naturally, all this
helps them wonderfully and, when it is said that
they have a large share of ingenuity and inspira-
tion, it is easy to see why they succeed.

With all these favourable qualities, there is no


wonder that they are popular and much sought-
after people. In manner, they are affable and

genial, and they do not forget those who have


done them a good turn.

A number eight person scarcely gives one


the impression that he is a hard worker. We all
know the type of person who is so busy that he
has no time for anything. Number Eight is not
like that. Probably, he gets through ten times as
much as the apparently busy person just men-
tioned, but he always seems to have time on hand
for more and more work. The fact is that he
knows how to space out his time and he knows
how to husband his energies.

As may be supposed, Number Eight has two


sides to his account. The better side has now
been unfolded: here is the other side.

In Number Eights make-up, there is a very


definite streak of what might be called the
revolutionary spirit. It is an unpleasant streak
which has spoiled many people who own this
number. This revolutionary spirit may come to
light when least expected and for no apparent
reason. It certainly will come to the fore, if the
individual has suffered a serious check which is of
a too great magnitude for him to overcome.

When this characteristic is allowed to burst


forth, Number Eight becomes a kind of down-
with-everything person. Nothing is right and
nobody is right, and the only way to put matters
straight, in his estimation, is to give him the job
of looking after the world.

Number Eight should make hay while the sun


shines, for there are many signs that he will go
down-hill much earlier than is usual with other
numbers. And, as he never does things by halves,
he will go down-hill rapidly, once the journey
of descent is commenced.

Of course, he finds it difficult to realise his


downfall and misses the old-time favours that
were showered upon him. Accordingly, he asks
what the world is coming to, and he blames
the younger generation for their modern ways
and behaviour. At heart, he feels that it is these
up-to-date youngsters who have pushed him out
of the limelight.

Concerning the question of marriage, Number


Eight is one of two characters. He may be the
kind of husband who acts, in exactly the same
way, at home as he does in the office. He is the
come here and go there husband who wants
to be waited on hand and foot. The home, in his
estimation, should be run as a business and a
balance sheet should be drawn up to show the
profits and losses.

On the other hand, he may be the kind of man


who leaves al his cares behind in the office and,
once he crosses the threshold of his home, is all
smiles and affability. The latter is the more likely.
CHAPTER XI

NUMBER NINE
NUMBER NINE is related to Neptune, and many
of its characteristics are of a very acceptable
nature.

The outstanding quality possessed by people


who have nine as their natural number is love.
We are not thinking of the quality in the senti-
mental sense, such as when Cupid comes upon the
scene; but rather in the sense of a desire to do
good towards ones fellow-men. Number
nine people deny themselves to help others;
they go about cheering the unhappy, healing the
sick, feeding the hungry, and so on. Their great
desire is to alleviate the trouble of others, and it
is their love for others that prompts them to go
forward.

As a second quality, number nine people


are steadfast. If they make a friend, it is a friend
for life; if they set out on a project, the effort is
not relinquished until the project comes to
fruition; if they give a promise, the promise will
be kept, whatever the cost. Thus, they are people
in whom trust may be implicitly reposed.

A third quality is typified by their intelligence


and learning. They are people who combine
practical knowledge with theory. Of both, they
usually have a large store; but of the two, theory
probably appeals to them more than practice.
Thus, they are often bookish and what is properly
called scholarly. This enables them to pass
examinations with flying colours.

Many, though not all, of the people who claim


nine as their natural number are devoted to the
mystic arts. Thus they live in the dream state of
telepathy and premonition.

As a rule, they have a keen desire for travel.


It is not that they chafe at being anchored to the
same spot or that they long for a change of sur-
roundings. It is because they feel that God has
set them down in a beautiful world and it is their
duty to see as much as they can of it. They look
upon the world as a very wonderful place, ever
revealing fresh surprises. They are keenly alive
to its mysteries and hardships; but these they
ascribe to the failings of mankind, rather than to
the workings of fate.

There is no doubt that number nine people


find a great deal of attraction in life, in spite of
the fact that they are well aware of the trials it
imposes on many people. Every day, to them,
brings forth its fresh problems; all of which they
encounter with the spirit of a sportsman.

From all that has been said, it will be appreci-


ated that the number nine person is not
altogether a go-ahead, twentieth century indivi-
dual. He is certainly not what the Americans call
a slick business person. Nor is he quite at
home amidst all the hurry and bustle of city life.
Some people might say that he is old-fashionned;
but that is hardly a fair estimate of him, if he is an
average specimen of his type. We would prefer to
say that he refuses to scamper through his work,
since he considers that what is worth doing is
worth doing well.

Of course, there are tendencies for the weaker


type of the number nine people to slide into
laziness. The characteristics of the number rather
lean in that direction. When this happens, they
are people who neglect themselves in the matter
of appearance, dress, feeding and health. If they
are forced to live a life of loneliness, especially
when getting on in years, their self-neglect is all
the more likely, and those who are attached to
them should endeavour to keep them up to
scratch.

The number nine man or woman makes a


first-rate partner in marriage. He or she will set
a high standard and endeavour by all means to
live up to it. It is only when the other partner
is of the flighty, superficial type that troubles
may arise. Even then, it is more than likely that
his or her influence will temper the other partner

and, little by little, bring him or her to a more


sensible frame of mind.

All the numbers of numerology have now been


described and, before turning to the applications
of the science, it cannot be pointed out too defin-
itely that there is nothing in numerology which
says that, because your number may possess
unfortunate characteristics, you must inevitably
go to the dogs. Nor does it assert that, if your
number has good characteristics, you need make
no further effort. Numerology points out the
qualities and defects which enter into your com-
plex nature and, with that, you are left to inter-
pret them in your own personal way.
CHAPTER XII

DATE NUMBERS
ONE of the most valuable uses to which numer-
ology can be put is to find by its aid the number
assigned to any particular day. Then, when we
have the number, it will be possible to learn a
good deal about that day and, especially, how it
will treat us, individually.

There is nothing very difficult about turning


a date into its own number. There are four
steps. First, you write down the number of the
day of the month, and if it is a compound
number, it must be reduced to a primary.
Second, you write down the number of the month
and reduce, as before, wherever necessary.
For this purpose, the months are assigned their
natural numbers, thus:

January 1 May 5 September 9


February 2 June 6 October 10
March 3 July 7 November 11
April 4 August 8 December 12

Third, you simply write down the number of


the year and add up the individual figures.

And, lastly, you add up the three answers.


This answer, when reduced to a primary number,
gives the number of the day in which we happen
to be interested.

To make all this clear, let us take one or two


examples. Suppose you are tentatively consider-
ing December 24th as your wedding day, and
we will imagine that the year is 1959. Naturally,
it will be very helpful to know the numerology
number of this date. You proceed thus:

1st. The 24th day = 2 + 4 = 6.

2nd. The month is December and the table,


above, assigns the figure 12 to this month. As
twelve is a compound number, it must be reduced
to a primary number. So 1 + 2 = 3.

3rd. The year 1959 is added thus,


1 + 9 + 5 + 9 = 24. Again, we have a com-
pound number which requires reducing. In
this case it reduces to 6.

4th. We now total up the three answers just


obtained. They are 6 + 3 + 6 = 15. Reducing
this to its primary form, we get 6. Therefore
6 is the date number of December 24th, 1959.

Now that we know that this day has for its


Symbol the Number Six, how can the fact be
used? First of all, we are supposing that you
tentatively chose the day for your wedding.
This is evidently a personal matter, so how does
the number of the day accord with your personal
name number? In Chapter II you were told how

to find this number of yours and by referring to


Chapter I you are able to discover whether the
Number Six pairs with your number or whether
it vibrates, attracts or disagrees with it.

If your personal number pairs or vibrates with


the number of the day you have tentatively
chosen for your wedding, then go ahead and
fix it definitely. If it attracts, you will probably do
the same. In either case, the issue should be propi-
tious; but if it disagrees, you will be advised to
choose some other day for so important a function.

Naturally, it cannot be claimed that you have


a personal interest in any and every day, such as
we supposed in the previous case. Many days
are merely passive as far as you are concerned.
Then, it would be useless to find the numerology
number of the day and compare it with your own
personal number. The comparison must be made
in some other way. To make this clear, we will
suppose that an earthquake takes place on a
certain day, or a devastating fire occurs. There is
no personal relationship with the earthquake or
fire and you. Yet, you may wish to check up
the day and find out whether it was a happening
in accordance with the laws of numerology.

In such a case, the process of working will be as


follows:

Suppose the earthquake takes place on July


15th, 1940. You, first, seek out the numerology
number of the date, thus:

1st. The 15th day = 1 + 5 = 6.

2nd. The month is July and the table of


months, already given, assigns the figure 7 to it.

3rd. The year 1940 is added, thus:


1 + 9 + 4 + 0 = 14. This compound number
14 resolves itself into the primary number 5.

4th. We now total up the three answers.


They are 6 + 7 + 5. This gives 18 or, in primary
form, 9. Thus the numerology number of the
date, July 15th, 1940, is 9.

Having discovered the number, the next step


is to seek out its application. The following list
gives the readings for the nine possible numbers.
It should be consulted in all cases in which no
personal interest is at issue:

One symbolises heat and light, wisdom and


love. It stands for progress and improvement.

Two symbolises procreation, fruition and the


relation of all opposite things. It stands for
doubt, hesitation and a lull of progress.

Three symbolises intelligence, consciousness


and resolution. It stands for movement, change
and business.

Four symbolises discernment, discretion and


intelligence. It stands for work, reason and logic.

Five symbolises judgment, sympathy, benevo-


lence and the fruits of action. It stands for good
fortune, plenty and surprises.

Six symbolises peace, harmony, satisfac-


tion and material well-being. It stands for

co-ordination, marriage relationship and a spirit


of understanding.

Seven symbolises death, rest, wisdom and


evolution. It stands for doubts, misunderstand-
ings and darkness.

Eight symbolises revolution, rupture, separa-


tion and expulsion. It stands for waywardness,
loss and foolish actions.

Nine symbolises regeneration, the birth of a


new era, voyaging and extensions. It stands for
powerful actions, unexpected happenings and
reformations.
CHAPTER XIII

NUMEROLOGY AND MARRIAGES


IN the Great Pyramid of Gizeh, there are to be
found some figures which will interest those of
our readers who are intent on solving the riddle
of their future marriage.

The figures are set out in a cryptic manner and


several interpretations have been put upon them.
But, if we place aside all the doubtful messages
which they convey, we are still in possession of
some very illuminating information.

Briefly, these tablets tell us how to discover


whether two people are of suitable temperament
to marry each other. Of course, it will be
admitted straight away that a man and a woman
may both be very worthy and estimable, yet
totally unsuited to each other. Conversely, the
two may be very differently constituted, yet the
qualities of the one may bring out the good points
of the other and, though a casual observer might
prophesy that a decided failure will result of the
union, it ultimately proves to be a great success.
Thus, failure or success does not depend upon
the joining of like natures, nor yet of unlike

natures. It is based on something far more


subtle, and numerology is the only occult science
which attempts to peer into the future, in a
rational way.

The method suggested by the inscriptions at


Gizeh is as follows: Suppose a lady wishes to
find out whether a certain man would make her
a suitable husband, she first finds out her own
personal number and, then, compares it with the
number belonging to the man. According to the
answer, she will know if the union will be
propitious or not.

To explain exactly how the figuring should be


done, it will be helpful to take an example. The
lady, we will suppose, was born on August 17th,
1916, and the man on October 10th, 1910.
Then:

Lady: (a) 17th day = 1 + 7 = 8


(b) August = 8.
(c) 1916 = 1 + 9 + 1 + 6 = 17 = 8.
(d) 8 + 8 + 8 = 24 = 6, personal number.
Man: (a) 10th day = 1 + 0 + 1.
(b) October = 10 = 1 + 0 = 1.
(c) 1910 = 1 + 9 + 1 + 0 = 11 = 2.
(d) 1 + 1 + 2 = 4, personal number.

Now the question is How will Number Six


harmonise with Number Four? The answer
is supplied by the following table, which can be
used for any two numbers that happen to be
found by this process of working:

with 6 and 7. It is passive to 2, 3 and 5.
2 vibrates to 8; attracts 7 and 9; and disagrees

agrees with 4 and 8. It is passive to 1 and 2.
4 vibrates to 6; attracts 1 and 8; and disagrees
with 3 and 5. It is passive to 2, 7 and 9.
5 vibrations to another 5; attracts 3 and 9; and
disagrees with 2 and 4. It is passive to 1, 6
7 and 8.
6 vibrates to 4; attracts 3 and 9; and disagrees
with 1 and 8. It is passive to 2, 5 and 7.
7 vibrates to 3; attracts 2 and 6; and disagrees
with 1 and 9. It is passive to 4, 5 and 8.
8 vibrates to 2; attracts 1 and 4; and disagrees
with 3 and 6. It is passive to 5, 7 and 9.
9 vibrates to 1; attracts 2, 3, and 6; and dis-
agrees with 7. It is passive to 4, 5 and 8.

Explaining the above:

(a) A number that vibrates to another shows


that there is considerable mutual attraction and
the marriage will be very favourable.

(b) A number that attracts another shows that


the two people are well suited to each other.

(c) A number that disagrees with another


shows that the union will call for a great deal of
diplomacy, if it is to be attended with any
measure of success.

(d) Where a number is passive, it merely


means that numerology offers no opinion, there
being no outstanding influence for good or bad.

(e) Of course, if the two numbers are alike,


it is a foregone conclusion that the union will
be very favourable.

Returning now to the example cited earlier,


in which the ladys number was 6 and the mans
4, it will be found that they have temperaments
which will vibrate to each other. Consequently
the prospects for the union are good.
CHAPTER XIV

THE COLOURS YOU SHOULD FAVOUR


FROM time immemorial people have known that,
in some way, there was an attraction between
themselves and certain colours: also that the
exact opposite held equally good, and that other
colours were positive harbingers of trouble.

In order to find some rule for deciding on the


colour that spelt success to any particular indi-
vidual, people came to the conclusion that there
must be some connection between a persons
birth-date and the colour which brought him or
her luck. And, from that assumption, they
arrived in some mysterious way, which we do
not presume to understand, at a lucky colour for
every individual.

Since the revival of numerology, it has been


proved, over and over again, that each person
has what might be called a lucky colour, and
that it is revealed not by the use of birth-dates but
by an application of the science of numerology.

Numerology says that your name can be


reduced to a number: it also shows that every
colour can be reduced to a number. In Chapter II

we explained how the reduction is effected in the


case of your name: the same process exactly is
followed for arriving at the number of any colour.

So, it all amounts to this: if you want to


know which colours affect you beneficially and
which adversely, you first find your own personal
number, and then you note the numbers attached
to certain colours of your choice. When a
colour has the same number as your name, you
can rest assured that it may be used beneficially
by you. It is a colour that will help you: you
should elect it whenever possible for your dress:
you should choose it in your decorative schemes:
you should wear it as your mascot.

At the other end of the scale there are colours


that positively hinder your progress and, of
course, they should be avoided. Such colours
are found by referring to Chapter I. There you
will find a list of numbers that disagree with
other numbers. Thus, when a colour has a
number disagreeing with your personal number,
you will know at once that it is not a colour for
you. It should be straightway shunned.

Coming between the two extremes there are


colours that vibrate with and others that attract
your own number. They will be more beneficial
than otherwise to you. You will accept them for
your uses, but not to the same extent as you do
the colours which pair with your personal
number.

out the chief colour numbers, we will give them here.
It will then be a simple matter to find out those
which pair, vibrate, attract or disagree with your
own number.

(In each case the figure at the apex of the

NUMEROLOGY IN EVERYDAY LIFE


ONCE you have discovered your number by the
means already described, the ways of using it
are endless.

We will suppose that you are comfortably


seated in your office and, suddenly, a matter crops
up which requires your decision. It happens that
you have to choose between two things. Of
course, if one is better than the other, you will
use your judgment and select the better. Natur-
ally, numerology will not expect you to reject
the better for the worse. But, in this particular
case, the two seem equally acceptable and there
is nothing to choose between them. This is
evidently a case for numerology.

The two things cannot be exactly alike: they


must differ in some way. Perhaps they are
offered to you by two different firms. Then here
is a solution to your difficulties. Scribble, on a
slip of paper, the names of the two firms and
transpose the letters into figures. Perhaps you
have not memorised the numbered alphabet and
cannot put your hand on this book. That need

not trouble you long. Write down the alphabet


and then number off the letters, starting with
one for A and going as far as 9, then beginning
with one again; but remember that PH is the
same as F.

When you have done that it will be easy to


see which of the two firms have a name number
that accords most with your own. And when
you have found that out, decide in favour of
the firm in question.

If you have not the name of a firm or person


to compare with your own, take the name of the
article and use that. Of course, you are now
departing from the path of safety and you may
alight on some factor for your purpose that will
not give you a correct clue to suitable numbers.
That is when numerology is blamed for faults
which it has not committed.

Take another case. You have to call upon a


firm and you hope to pull off a good piece of
business while there. You are booked to reach
the firm by 2.30. Thoughts of numerology flash
across your mind and, on the back of an old
envelope, you scribble the now familiar inverted
pyramid but with these figures:

Ah! you say, thats no good, as my num-


ber is two and not eight. Well, if your number

is two, why not reach there at 2.25, and all


will be well, as the following pyramid shows

Mind you, we are not suggesting if you were


going to Edinburgh, and a train at 2.30 suited
your convenience, but did not give your number,
and that an inconvenient train at midnight gave
your number, that you should lose the first and
catch the later one. Numerology, when used in
this way, is more a nuisance than a help; and
its real mission is to help.

Do no think that numerology is something


to use now and again. It can be applied to the
drawing-up of a dinner menu, a dance pro-
gramme, to mapping out a summer holiday or
buying a new frock. Its uses are unlimited.
CHAPTER XVI

THE PAST, THE PRESENT AND THE


FUTURE
NUMEROLOGY claims that during the whole of
our lives we are influenced by numbers. A
number denotes the year of our birth: another
will herald the year of our death, and still others
mark or will mark the years in which events of
special importance occur to us. All these
numbers, the science contends, are not mere
figures that happen by chance. In some special
and rather mysterious way, they are related.

Not long ago we applied one of the most


useful numerology tests to a lady who happened
to call on us. For reasons which will be appreci-
ated later, we purposely did not explain to her
what we proposed to do. The experiment con-
sisted in asking certain questions which she was
required to answer.

Here are our questions and her answers:

(1) When were you born? In the year 1900.

(2) What happened to you in 1910? I had a


very serious illness, but what makes you ask?

(3) What happened to you in 1921? Why,


that was the year I was married.

(4) What happened to you in 1929? Nothing


that I can remember of any importance.

(5) What happened to you in 1934? I went


for a tour round the world.

These were our questions and now let us


explain why each one of them was asked.

First of all, the lady said she was born in the


year 1900. The figures of that year add up to 10.
Add 10 to 1900 and we get 1910. Hence the date
of the second question.

Next, the figures of 1910 add up to 11. Add


11 to 1910 and we get 1921. This date accounts
for the second question.

Again, the figures of 1921 add up to 13. Add


13 to 1921 and we get 1934. This accounts for
the fifth and last question.

But what about the fourth question? you will


immediately ask. It will be recognised that the
date asked in that question did not belong to the
progression years. It was a year chosen at
random to see if the lady was giving events for
any and every year that might be asked. Her
answer shows that she did not look upon the year
with any significance, as far as she was con-
cerned; nor was it.

This little experiment with what are known


as the progressive years of your life will point

out the years that have passed and those that


are to come which will be or have been out-
standing years. Just apply the experiment to
your own life and the lives of some of your
friends; then see if the test does not answer
satisfactorily. Continue beyond the present year
and you will be told the years to come with
special significance.

It will be noticed that, for this progressive


sequence, the annular figures are not reduced to
a primary number.

To save you the bother of working out quite a


few progression years of significance, we append
several lists in which you may find some of the
dates required. In each case, no more than five
or six years are given. The first is the birth year.
The others are the years to think about and
watch:

For any earlier or subsequent year of birth,


add up the figures forming it. Then, add
the answer to the birth year. You now have a
fresh year. Add up the figures it contains and
add the answer to the fresh year. You have now,
yet another year. Go on in this way until you
have gone beyond the period in which the
person whose birth year it is can have any interest.
CHAPTER XVII

YOUR WILL TO OVERCOME


DIFFICULTIES
WE have hinted in several places that when
difficulties and troubles arise, it depends on our
individual qualities how we will face them and
overcome them. The astrologers of old had a
way of determining the measure of our strength
in these matters. The method is fairly simple
and well worth applying to our own particular
cases.

The system is based on a mystic square con-


taining certain numbers. Here it is:

following heavenly bodies:

Now, to make use of this mystic square, we


commence by drawing the square, but leaving
out the figures. Then, we take the day on which
we were born and reduce it to figures. Thus,
supposing our day of birth was the 12th Septem-
ber, 1901, it is written 12-9-01. It will be seen
that the thousand and hundred figures of the
year are omitted, as they are redundant for the
purposes of the square.

Next, we write these figures in the square, in


their appropriate places. In the case we have
suggested, the square will now take this form:

Of course, in every case some of the squares


will have to remain unfilled. Another point to
note is that when the birth date happens to be
formed by the repetition of one or more figures,
the figures are duplicated in the appropriate
square. Thus, in the example we have selected,
the figure one occurs twice. Therefore, both of
them are set down in the middle upper square,
and they must not be read as eleven, but as two ones.

Now, whenever two adjacent squares are


filled with a number, the heavenly bodies that

influence those squares are said to be in con-


junction. This means that their influence will be
exerted towards helping you to overcome
any difficulties which beset you. How much they
will be exerted is shown by the following table:

Thus, in the present case, the two squares


representing the Sun and Mars are filled; the
two squares touch; therefore it follows that, in
the case of a person born on 12th September,
1901, the Sun and Mars are in conjunction, as
far as he is concerned. By referring to the above
list, it will be noticed that the Sun and Mars have

the number 20 given as their value. This is a


high value and the strength which a person born
on this particular day will have within him to
overcome difficulties will be great. The fact
that the Sun is doubled in the middle upper
square shows that strength is added to the
reading. So, a person with this birth date
should be well satisfied with his prospects for
surmounting the obstacles of life.

Now, why not try your own figures?

Before leaving the matter, it will be advisable


to consider the following birth-square, because
it presents a condition that did not arise in the
previous example. Suppose you were born on
April 5th, 1907. On filling in your square you
obtain this:

Now, in this instance, there are three cases of


conjunction. In which order should we deal
with them? The rule is to start with the lowest
numbers on the square and to take them in
ascending order. Thus, we have:

(a) 4 in conjunction with 5


(b) 4 7

Now (a) means that the Sun is in conjunction


with Mercury.

(b) Means that the Sun is in conjunction with


the Moon.

(c) Means that Mercury is in conjunction with


the Moon.

In the table of values, it will be noted that


when the Sun is in conjunction with Mercury,
the value of the personal strength is 16.

Regarding the table of values given above, it


must be understood that the figures are merely
comparative. From 21 to 14 may be taken as
excellent; from 13 to 11 as good; from 9 to 5
as fair; and below 5 as weak.

IN CONCLUSION
WE have now sketched the subject of numer-
ology in outline. The main rules are few and
straightforward in their purpose. Their applica-
tion to your own personal self and to the things
around you does not demand a belief in the
supernatural. The Bible refers, in several places,
to numerology, if one can read between the
lines.

Numerology gives strength and support


because it helps you to discover facts about
yourself which you could not know otherwise.
These facts depend upon the numbers which
influence your life and actions. Once you know
them, you can go ahead and not grope about in
the dark, as you were forced to do before you
knew them.

We do not claim, because you are now able to


compare the figures which vibrate from your
own person with those of outside events, that
there is nothing more for you to do. Nor are we
suggesting that you should sit down and wait
for things to happen. Quite the contrary.

What we do seriously suggest is that when


you have got to know your good and your bad
numbers, as explained in Chapter II, you should
take thorough stock of yourself. Numerology
only helps those who help themselves. There-
fore, find out your good and your weak points.
Chapters III to XI will tell you a great deal about
yourself that you already know and much more
that you do not know. Think over all these
matters and be very frank with yourself. Then,
make up your mind to gild the good in you and
eradicate the bad. Both will be simple things to
do, because numerology will give you the
necessary inspiration.
