Job 19

Nueva Versin Internacional (NVI)

Sexto discurso de Job

19 A esto, Job respondi:

2 Hasta cundo van a estar atormentndome

y aplastndome con sus palabras?
3 Una y otra vez[a] me hacen reproches;

descaradamente me atacan.
4 Aun si fuera verdad que me he desviado,

7 Aunque grito: Violencia!, no hallo respuesta;

aunque pido ayuda, no se me hace justicia.

8 Dios me ha cerrado el camino, y no puedo pasar;

ha cubierto de oscuridad mis senderos.

9 Me ha despojado de toda honra;

10 Por todos lados me destroza, como a un rbol;

me aniquila, y arranca de raz mi esperanza.

11 Su enojo se ha encendido contra m;

me cuenta entre sus enemigos.

12 Sus tropas avanzan en tropel;

levantan una rampa para asediarme;

acampan alrededor de mi carpa!
13 Hizo que mis hermanos me abandonaran;

16 Llamo a mi criado, y no me responde,

aunque yo mismo se lo ruego.

17 A mi esposa le da asco mi aliento;

a mis hermanos[b] les resulto repugnante.

18 Hasta los nios se burlan de m;

19 A todos mis amigos les resulto abominable;

20
La piel y la carne se me pegan a los huesos;
a duras penas he salvado el pellejo![d]
21 Compadzcanse de m, amigos mos;

27 Yo mismo espero verlo;
28 Ustedes dicen: Vamos a acosarlo,

porque en l est la raz del mal.

29 Pero cudense de la espada,

pues con ella viene la ira justiciera,

para que sepan que hay un juez.

Job 19
JOB 19(NIV)
Job

1 Then Job replied:

2 How long will you torment me

and crush me with words?
3 Ten times now you have reproached me;
shamelessly you attack me.
4 If it is true that I have gone astray,
my error remains my concern alone.
5 If indeed you would exalt yourselves above me
and use my humiliation against me,
6 then know that God has wronged me
and drawn his net around me.

7
Though I cry, Violence! I get no response;
though I call for help, there is no justice.
8 He has blocked my way so I cannot pass;

he has shrouded my paths in darkness.

9 He has stripped me of my honor

and removed the crown from my head.

10 He tears me down on every side till I am gone;

he uproots my hope like a tree.

11 His anger burns against me;

he counts me among his enemies.

12 His troops advance in force;

they build a siege ramp against me

and encamp around my tent.

13He has alienated my family from me;

my acquaintances are completely estranged from me.
14 My relatives have gone away;

my closest friends have forgotten me.

15 My guests and my female servants count me a foreigner;

they look on me as on a stranger.

16 I summon my servant, but he does not answer,

though I beg him with my own mouth.

17 My breath is offensive to my wife;

I am loathsome to my own family.

18 Even the little boys scorn me;

when I appear, they ridicule me.

19 All my intimate friends detest me;

those I love have turned against me.

20 I am nothing but skin and bones;

I have escaped only by the skin of my teeth.[a]

21
Have pity on me, my friends, have pity,
for the hand of God has struck me.
22 Why do you pursue me as God does?

Will you never get enough of my flesh?

23 Oh, that my words were recorded,
that they were written on a scroll,
24 that they were inscribed with an iron tool on[b] lead,

or engraved in rock forever!

25 I know that my redeemer[c] lives,

and that in the end he will stand on the earth.[d]

26 And after my skin has been destroyed,

yet[e] in[f] my flesh I will see God;

27 I myself will see him

with my own eyesI, and not another.

How my heart yearns within me!

28 If you say, How we will hound him,

since the root of the trouble lies in him,[g]
29 you should fear the sword yourselves;

for wrath will bring punishment by the sword,

and then you will know that there is judgment.[h]

a. Job 19:20 Or only by my gums

Chapter 19
Job tells of the ills that have befallen him and then testifies, I know that my Redeemer livesJob prophesies
that he will be resurrected and that in his flesh he will see God.

1 Then Job answered and said,

2 How long will ye vex my soul, and break me in pieces with words?
3 These ten times have ye reproached me: ye are not ashamed that ye make yourselves strange to me.
4 And be it indeed that I have erred, mine error remaineth with myself.
5 If indeed ye will magnify yourselves against me, and plead against me my reproach:
6 Know now that God hath overthrown me, and hath compassed me with his net.
7 Behold, I cry out of wrong, but I am not heard: I cry aloud, but there is no ajudgment.
8 He hath fenced up my way that I cannot pass, and he hath set darkness in my paths.
9 He hath stripped me of my glory, and taken the crown from my head.
10 He hath destroyed me on every side, and I am gone: and mine hope hath he removed like a tree.
11 He hath also kindled his wrath against me, and he counteth me unto him as one of his enemies.
12 His troops come together, and raise up their way against me, and encamp round about my atabernacle.
13 He hath put my brethren far from me, and mine acquaintance are verily estranged from me.
14 My kinsfolk have failed, and my familiar friends have aforgotten me.
15 They that dwell in mine house, and my maids, count me for a stranger: I am an alien in their sight.
16 I called my servant, and he gave me no answer; I entreated him with my mouth.
17 My abreath is strange to my wife, though I entreated for the childrens sake of mine own body.
18 Yea, young children despised me; I arose, and they spake against me.
19 All my ainward friends abhorred me: and they whom I loved are turned against me.
20 My bone cleaveth to my skin and to my flesh, and I am escaped with the skin of my teeth.
21 Have pity upon me, have pity upon me, O ye myafriends; for the bhand of God hath touched me.
22 Why do ye persecute me as God, and are not satisfied with amy flesh?
23 Oh that my words were now written! oh that they were printed in a book!
24 That they were graven with an iron pen and lead in the rock for ever!
25 For I aknow that my bredeemer liveth, and that cheshall dstand at the latter day upon the earth:
26 And though after my skin worms destroy thisabody, yet in my bflesh shall I csee God:
27 Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be
consumed within me.
28 But ye should say, Why persecute we him, seeing the root of the matter is found in me?
29 Be ye afraid of the sword: for wrath bringeth the punishments of the sword, that ye may know there
is a judgment.
Captulo 19

1 ENTONCES respondi Job y dijo:

7 He aqu, yo clamo agravio y no tengo respuesta; pido auxilio, y no hay justicia.
Job 21

21 A esto, Job respondi:

2 Escuchen atentamente mis palabras;

concdanme este consuelo.
3 Tolrenme un poco mientras hablo,

y brlense si quieren cuando haya terminado.

4 Acaso dirijo mi reclamo a los *mortales?

Por qu creen que pierdo la paciencia?
5 Mrenme, y queden asombrados;

tpense la boca con la mano.

6
Si pienso en esto, me lleno de espanto;
un escalofro me corre por el cuerpo.
7 Por qu siguen con vida los malvados,

cada vez ms viejos y ms ricos?

8 Ven establecerse en torno suyo

a sus hijos y a sus descendientes.

9
Tienen *paz en su hogar, y estn libres de temores;
la vara de Dios no los castiga.
10 Sus toros son verdaderos sementales;

11 Dejan correr a sus nios como si fueran ovejas;

sus pequeuelos danzan alegres.

12 Cantan al son del tamboril y del arpa;

se divierten al son de la flauta.

13 Pasan la vida con gran bienestar,

y en paz bajan al *sepulcro.

[a]

14 A Dios increpan: Djanos tranquilos!

No queremos conocer tu voluntad.

rebosantes de salud y de paz;

24 sus caderas,
[b]
llenas de grasa;
sus huesos, recios hasta la mdula.
25

28
Tambin s que se preguntan:
Dnde est la mansin del potentado?
Dnde estn las moradas de los inicuos?
29 No han interrogado a los viajeros?

No han prestado atencin a sus argumentos?

30 En el da del desastre, el malvado se salva;

32
Cuando lo llevan al sepulcro,
sobre su tumba se pone vigilancia;

[c]

34 Cmo esperan consolarme con discursos sin sentido?

Sus respuestas no son ms que falacias!

Jobs Discourse on the Wicked

21 Then Job answered and said:

2 Listen carefully to my speech,

And let this be your consolation.
3 Bear with me that I may speak,

And after I have spoken, keep mocking.

4 As for me, is my complaint against man?

And if it were, why should I not be impatient?

5 Look at me and be astonished;
Put your hand over your mouth.
6
Even when I remember I am terrified,
And trembling takes hold of my flesh.
7 Why do the wicked live and become old,

Yes, become mighty in power?

8 Their descendants are established with them in their sight,

And their offspring before their eyes.

9 Their houses are safe from fear,

Neither is the rod of God upon them.

10
Their bull breeds without failure;
Their cow calves without miscarriage.
11 They send forth their little ones like a flock,

And their children dance.

12 They sing to the tambourine and harp,

And rejoice to the sound of the flute.

13 They spend their days in wealth,

And in a moment go down to the grave. [a]

14
Yet they say to God, Depart from us,
For we do not desire the knowledge of Your ways.
15 Who is the Almighty, that we should serve Him?

And what profit do we have if we pray to Him?

16 Indeed their prosperity is not in their hand;

The counsel of the wicked is far from me.

17
How often is the lamp of the wicked put out?
How often does their destruction come upon them,
The sorrows God distributes in His anger?
18 They are like straw before the wind,

And like chaff that a storm carries away.

19 They say, God lays up ones iniquity for his children;
[b]

Let Him recompense him, that he may know it.

20 Let his eyes see his destruction,

And let him drink of the wrath of the Almighty.

21
For what does he care about his household after him,
When the number of his months is cut in half?
22 Can anyone teach God knowledge,

Since He judges those on high?

23
One dies in his full strength,
Being wholly at ease and secure;
24 His pails
[c]
are full of milk,
And the marrow of his bones is moist.
25 Another man dies in the bitterness of his soul,

Never having eaten with pleasure.

26 They lie down alike in the dust,

And worms cover them.

27 Look, I know your thoughts,

And the schemes with which you would wrong me.

28
For you say,
Where is the house of the prince?
And where is the tent,[d]

The dwelling place of the wicked?

29 Have you not asked those who travel the road?

And do you not know their signs?

30 For the wicked are reserved for the day of doom;
They shall be brought out on the day of wrath.
31
Who condemns his way to his face?
And who repays him for what he has done?
32 Yet he shall be brought to the grave,

And a vigil kept over the tomb.

33 The clods of the valley shall be sweet to him;

Everyone shall follow him,

As countless have gone before him.
34 How then can you comfort me with empty words,

Since falsehood remains in your answers?
