Single Stub and Double Stub Matching for a given Load using Vector Network
Analyzer
Aim: Study of single and double stub matching for an unknown load using VNA.
Laboratory Work:
1. Put the VNA into Smith Chart mode and set it to the desired frequency of
matching.
2. Normalize the S11 trace by connecting a short circuit at the end of the waveguide.
3. Connect the single stub tuner and terminate it with a matched load.
4. Measure the guide wavelength.
5. Measure and plot the stub susceptance as a function of its depth.
6. Use the single stub tuner to match the given load to the port. Calculate the (SWR
< 2) bandwidth.
7. Use a double stub tuner to match the given load to the port. Also, calculate (SWR
< 2) bandwidth. If you are unable to match, justify.
8. Compare the (SWR < 2) bandwidth achieved for both single and double stub
matching.
7. Single Stub and Double Stub Matching for a Given Load using VNA 1 of 1
