responses by the people under colonial rule.

sen in China, and the roles of ideology and religion.

Big Ideas/Unit Goals:

How did imperialism change geography, political structures, and peoples lives on a daily basis?

- Students learn how imperialism in the 20th century came about as well as the large changes in relation to it.
- Students will learn how imperialism changed countries politically, economically, and socially.
- They will understand the political systems during the time and how those systems lead to imperialism.
- Lastly they will understand how ordinary peoples lives were affected and still are.

Unit Summary:

In this unit, students will learn about imperialism. Specifically, how imperialism shaped the world as we know it today. We will look through
primary and secondary sources to understand the world before this rapid imperialism. Then go on to study the major changes in multiple
countries and how those changes came about. They will use critical thinking skills to analyze why imperialism started and why it has long
lasting effects.
