"ORGANISATION SCIENTIFIQUE ET TECHNIQUE

INTERNATIONALE DU VOL A VOILE (OSTIV)"

Chapter A: Object, name, seat and membership of the Organisation

1. The "Organisation Scientifique et Technique Internationale du Vol Voile", called for short
"OSTIV", is a specialised independent international non-profit organization. Affiliated with the
"Federation Aeronautique Internationale" (F.A.I.), the OSTIV has the special status of an
International Associate Member thereof. Each party, the OSTIV and the F.A.I., has the right of
representation -with voting right - in the General Conferences of the other party, and the right to
appoint observers: the OSTIV to the meetings of the International Gliding Commission (IGC) of
the F.A.I. and the IGC to the meetings of the Meteorological Panel, the Sailplane Development
Panel and the Training and Safety Panel of the OSTIV.

2. The objects of the OSTIV are to encourage and coordinate internationally the science and
technology of soaring and the development and use of the sailplane in pure and applied research.

3. The OSTIV has its seat at the residence of the President of the organisation.

4. There are four kinds of membership to the OSTIV:

a. Active membership,
b. Scientific/Technical Membership,
c. Individual Membership,
d. ASCEND Membership
e. Honorary membership.

Active Membership is open to each National Aero Club that is a member of the "Federation
Aeronautique Internationale" (F.A.I.). Each National Aero Club, member of the FAI, that has
become a member of the OSTIV shall authorise one or more of its members to act as its
representative in the OSTIV.

Scientific/Technical Membership is open to libraries and organizations working in the field of

aviation and interested in the furtherance of the sciences and techniques related to soaring.

Individual Membership is open to individual persons.

ASCEND Membership is open to individuals younger than 25 years. Please enclose a copy of
Student-ID or one time proof of age 24 or younger.

Honorary Membership: One Honorary President, one Honorary Vice-President and an unlimited
number of Honorary Members may be elected by the General Conference in recognition of having
rendered special services to the OSTIV itself and/or its activities.

5. The OSTIV may also affiliate or associate itself with other international organisations devoted to
the furtherance of the sciences and techniques related to soaring.

Foreword
This booklet "OSTIV Publications Index 2014" follows the earlier "Index" of 1992, 1995, 1996 and
2005 until 2013 (Index 2012 was not published). It covers all OSTIV publications from 1950 to 2014.

Its purpose is to provide the information about all papers presented at OSTIV Congresses and published
in the periodicals of "Swiss Aero Revue" and compiled in the volumes of "OSTIV-PUBLICATIONS",
and since 1986 in the quarterly issues of "TECHNICAL SOARING".

The first OSTIV-Congress 1948 at Samedan, Switzerland, and the second OSTIV-Congress 1949 at
Paris, France, were not documented in an official publication. The X. OSTIV-Congress at South
Cerney 1965, England, had two OSTIV-PUBLICATIONS with the numbers No. VIII and No. IX.

After the XIX. OSTIV-Congress 1985 in Rieti, Italy, and its PUBLICATION No. XVIII the series of
OSTIV-PUBLICATIONS ended and in 1986 the quarterly "TECHNICAL SOARING", edited by the
Soaring Society of America (SSA), took over the publication of OSTIV articles as the official OSTIV
Journal. In 2006, with the publication of Vol. 27 this cooperation ended, and starting with Vol. 28
OSTIV took the process of editing and publishing of the Journal of "TECHNICAL SOARING" in its
own hands.

Please be advised that some publications are out of print, but in case of interest you can be provided
with copies of selected articles or complete publications by refunding of costs.

For Order Forms please contact the OSTIV secretariat or download them from www.ostiv.org. When
ordering three publications or more there is a price reduction of 20%.

Delft, January 2015 L. M. M. Boermans, OSTIV President (until February 2015)

Further information on the bank account:

Why IBAN and BIC for the OSTIV Bank Account?
In Europe 31 countries agreed on a simplified cross country payment service called SEPA (Single Euro
Payments Area). Unambiguous identification of all SEPA banks is assured by using the IBAN and BIC codes.
What's the IBAN-Code?
IBAN is the abbreviation for "International Bank Account Number". This international standardised account
number was developed by European Committee for Banking Standards (ECBS). It consists of a maximum of
34 alphanumerical characters which are:
- country designation (NL for The Netherlands),
- two-digit check characters,
- eight-digit Bank Code, and the
- ten-digit Account No.

Example: NL 93 ABNA 0500747709

What's the BIC-Code?
BIC is the abbreviation for "Bank Identifier Code" also called SWIFT-Code and is an internationally
standardised 11-digit bank code. The BIC allows unambiguous identification of the credit institution.
Why use IBAN and BIC?
Since February 2014 IBAN and BIC are mandatory for EC cross-border payments. Although national
payments are still possible until February 2016, payments are processed in general cheaper and faster by using
IBAN and BIC. This is called "Straight Through Processing" (STP). In case of an erroneous entering of
interchanged digits the IBAN and BIC system software will display an error flag.
All clients making a bank transfer in Euro () within the EC-Member States must use the IBAN of the
recipient and the BIC of the accepting bank.
Therefore:
EC-cross-border transfers are only possible when using IBAN and BIC.

Please, do not hesitate to write, phone, fax or mail us for any further information!
