Dear Dr.

Bakke and Gallaudets HSLS Department,

I am writing this letter in support of Dr. Larry Medwetsky as he seeks tenure. As a fourth year Au.D.
candidate at Gallaudet University I have had the pleasure of having Dr. Medwetsky as a professor for
several of my classes. His passion for the field is exhibited by an enthusiastic teaching style and zeal for
discussing audiology. The material for his classes was often dense, however, his teaching style,
knowledge of the topics, and passion as an educator made for thorough understanding for my classmates
and I. He shows compassion for his students and those his students will see in the future. I will never
forget his expressed joy during my first day of Au.D. courses: Diagnostic Audiology. Dr. Medwetsky
coupled the thrill of meeting the new students with pride for having the responsibility to lay the
foundation for the future of audiology. They manifested as pure enjoyment for him and as a great benefit
to the new students, the field of audiology, and Gallaudet University.

Not only is he a great teacher, he is also a great support to my class. He continually advocates for my
class and aids us in any way that we need. This includes continuous refinement of course scheduling to
better fit our schedule, counseling us on patient care, and being a liaison between my cohort and the
department when needed. Dr. Medwetsky continually exudes compassion for those with whom he
comes in contact. He is one of the few faculty members who actively stays in contact with my cohort to
see how we are doing and to ask what he can do to better support us as students and externs.

In addition to his roles as a professor, liaison, and mentor, he is a vital part of Gallaudets SAA. As
president of SAA for the 2015-2016 academic year, I worked closely with him to raise money for SAA
and to support students in our ever-growing field of audiology. He was the only faculty member to
attend Walk-for-Hearing: Washington D.C. on behalf of Gallaudet SAA; once again showing his
passion for the field, and as an educator.

My experience at Gallaudet and with the HSLS department would be vastly different without
Dr. Medwetsky. He played an important role in supporting me as a student and educating me as a future
audiologist. I feel that the department would benefit greatly from having Dr. Medwetsky as a permanent
fixture. Not only would he be an asset to the department, but also for current and upcoming students,
and the future of audiology. Please take this letter of my experiences with Dr. Medwetsky into
consideration as you make this important decision for the Gallaudet HSLS department. Feel free to
contact me at 850-524-5139 or Brittany.Fauble@gallaudet.edu if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Brittany M. Fauble, M.S.
