Natural environment The natural environment encompasses all living and


non-living things occurring naturally, meaning in this
case not artificial.

Built environment the term built environment, or built world, refers to


the man-made surroundings that provide the setting
for human activity, ranging in scale from buildings to
parks

Students Prior Knowledge:


The students don't have any idea about natural and built environment when they were in KG
but they learned about what are the things around us.
Possible Problems and Misconceptions:

1- If the some students have struggle understanding the difference between natural and built
environment.

2- Having a problem with computer for example, showing the slideshows of PowerPoint on the board.

3- If some students misbehave during the lesson.

Solutions:

1- The teacher will provide more examples about both of them and explain the reasons why.

2- The teacher will use pictures and start the lesson using the board.

3- The teacher will remind them about the classroom rules and she will do some strategies that they
know it.

5 minutes
The student teacher will demonstrate T chart table in one of the slideshows in the
PowerPoint to introduce the lesson which is about Natural and Built environment. She will say
we are going to learn about natural and built environment.

She will explain the words Natural and built and translate them in Arabic to be sure that
everyone can understand the words.

She will start the natural environment by pointing to picture that has trees in the column for
Natural environment and ask them What they can see? Who make the trees? She will do the
same for built environment and ask the same questions by using building picture.
Core (introduce and practice new concepts & procedures): 30 minutes

She will show different pictures in the other slideshows to the students to asking them
classify which is natural or built environment and explain why.

The students should say the word natural or built and explain who make the objects they see.
For instance, she will show to them a school and they will say it is a built environment then
they will say why by explaining that the man who build or make the school.

After that she will demonstrate an empty t-chart table in the last slideshow that has natural
and built environment columns and she will give them 3 or 4 pictures which are some of them
natural and built environments.

She will ask them to work as group and discuss which natural or built environments are.
Then she will ask each group to give her the pictures for the natural environment and she will
ask them which column for natural environment this or this? Then she will stick the pictures.
She will ask the students to give her the pictures for the built environment as well and ask
them why for both environments.

Close (wrap up, discussion, brief review activity or assessment): 10 minutes

The student teacher will ask the students to choose one of natural or built environment and
draw a picture show that environment in their journals books.
Also, she will ask them to write at the up of the page one of the words that they choose
(Natural, Built) in order to assess them if they recognize the difference between both
environments.
