1. SCOPE OF WORK
This Method Statement covers the various methods utilized to control water in
excavation.
2. PURPOSE
This method statement provides the control sequence and methodology that will be used for
Trial trench to obtain existing service in order to achieve compliance with the Contract
Specifications and Drawing
3. REFERENCES

5. RESPONSIBILITIES
It is the responsibility of all personnel involved in the works to implement this Method
Statement and in accordance with the Risk Assessment (attached), ITP, Contractor ES&H plan,
and project safety rules and regulations.
1. Ensure Site Specific Safety Plan (SSSP) is implemented and followed for each activity.
2. Monitor the implementation of this method statement.
3. Provide required training.
4. Regularly pay site visits to ensure that safety is being exercised at site as per requirement.
5. Advise the Site Engineer for any infraction for safety procedures.
6. Verify field activities are following the MS/RA and any new risks not previously identified are
addressed and reflected in a revised/new MS/RA.
7. Stop all unsafe work activities.
6. PROCEDURE
Depending on certain factors, one or more of the below detailed dewatering methods can
be adopted.
Dewatering Method:-
Protect structure, prepare and adjust to the site from damage caused by settlement and
Hazards created by dewatering.
Any closing of roads, streets, or facilities shall be with permission from authority has
Jurisdiction and then provide alternative access.
Installation of dewatering pipe
The header pipe shall be connected to well points placed at 1 meter centers with sufficient
Depth to ensure that lowering of the water table shall be carried out from a level not less
Than 1 meter below the excavation bottom
Pre-drainage (Well Points System).
Well points will be drilled by augers or high pressure water jet and fitted with riser pipes
at sufficient intervals to maintain the surrounding water table below the level of
excavation.
After well points are driven into the ground they are surrounded with a filter layer (5mm
sand) to facilitate suction.
Flexible elbows are used to connect the riser pipes to Header pipes, which in turn are
connected to suction Pumps.
The water is then pumped through flexible hoses ordischarge lines to the discharge
points.
Once the water table has sufficiently dropped, theexcavation may proceed in dry soil.
A risk assessment analyzing potential risks and their mitigation measures is attached to this
method statement in Appendix 8.1.
