Flipped Classroom Lesson Plan

READINESS
I. Goals/Objectives/Standard(s)
B. Objective:
Students will be able to identify a main idea in a story.
Students will be able to identify a key detail in a story.
Students will be able to write their own book and be able to find what the main idea and key
detail is in their story.

C. Standard(s):
IAS: 1.RL.2.1
ISTE: 6.a.
II. Home Based Study DAY 1
Students view video clip given to them on the class website. Answer questions given after watching the
video, and have answers ready for next class.

III. In-Class Lesson Study DAY 2


Anticipatory Set
Teacher checks that student has viewed the content provided (5 minutes).
In groups students shall share what they each took from the video and share topics they
have come up with for their book (5 minutes).
Teacher leads a short discussion about the video content. Students ask Questions about
aspects of the video or content they did not understand (5-10 minutes).

IV. Purpose:
To learn the main idea and key details in a book and be able to identify those concepts from a text.

V.Lesson Presentation (Input/Output) (40 minutes)

Activity: Each student is given a blank book. Each student is supposed to write a story and draw
pictures in their book. The student shall be able to identify where their key ideas and main idea is
within the book and be ready to share with the class. Once everyone is done students will take turns
presenting their book.

Include: active participation and questions to be asked
Include: technology and adaptations for students with special needs
Include: modeling/monitoring
Checking for understanding.

PLAN FOR ASSESSMENT


Formative: A check list will be given to students so they are able to make sure they have all the content
needed within their book. Teacher will also be monitoring to see how the students are doing within the
activity.

Summative: Students will be given an exit slip to check for understanding.
