PROMISE TO SIMEON
Luke 2:25-35

INTRODUCTION: Simeon had waited for the promised coming of the Messiah. He would not be
disappointed. God would be faithful to His Word. The birth of Jesus has brought hope and joy into the
world like no other birth. Our assurance of salvation rests upon the truth that the Son of God became a man
so we can become the children of God. The angel spoke to the shepherds and said: For unto you is born
this day in the city of David a Savior, who is the Christ the Lord.

LESSONS FOR LIFE:

1. Gods salvation is found in the person of His Son, Jesus.
2. Jesus was born that He should taste death for every man. (Heb. 2:9) Who his own self bore our sins in
his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sin, should live unto righteousness; by whose stripes ye
were healed. (1 Pet. 2:24)
3. Jesus conquered death for us that we may say: O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy
victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who giveth us the
victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Cor. 15:55-57)
