Abstract:
Aim: To discover the correlation between having
sexual intercourse with an uncircumcised men
and the linking of cervical cancer in women.
Methods: Groups of married women split equally
between those who have and do not have cervical
cancer were polled regarding the status of their
husbands’ genitalia. At the same time, swabs
were taken from the husbands’ genitalia to
compare and contrast the presence of bacteria
and foreign bodies within.
Results: Based on the research conducted a
pattern was found between the uncircumcised
men and the presence of cervical cancer in the
women.
Conclusion: Due to the data collected, it was
found the uncircumcised men carried more
bacteria and foreign bodies however; further
investigation needs to be conducted to further
establish this theory.
Introduction
In 2006, 11,982 women in the United
States were diagnosed with cervical cancer.
Cervical cancer is a cancer that develops in the
tissue of the cervix, the lower part of the uterus.
The scientific community has discovered a
number of risk factors that may contribute to the
occurrence of cervical cancer. Of these risk factors
include: contracting human papillomavirus (HPV),
being involved with a number of sexual partners,
having a weakened immune system, smoking
cigarettes, lack of regular Pap tests, giving birth to
an abundant amount of children and a few
others. A new theory is developing involving the
bacteria in the foreskin of an uncircumcised male.
It is believed that multiple acts of
unprotected sexual intercourse with an
uncircumcised male can transfer bacteria, from
the male, to the female, which, in turn, would
lead into the development of cervical cancer. This
may bring about curiosity of the circumcised
male.
The foreskin of the penis facilitates the
process of entrapping bacteria. If hygiene is not of
priority to the individual, the bacteria will be able
to reproduce and continue to spread toxins,
which can then be transferred to the female
through intercourse.
The purpose of our study was to
determine the risks involving in having sexual
intercourse with an uncircumcised man. We
suspect that the uncircumcised male can contain
more bacteria and viruses in their foreskin putting
their partner at a higher risk for cervical cancer.
Materials and Methods
One thousand couples, married greater
than seven years, were selected within the United
States.  The age criterion for the women was
specified within twenty-five to faorty-five years of
age. In each case, the husbands were the
woman’s sole sexual partner. Five hundred of the
women tested positive for cervical cancer. The
remaining five hundred had a negative Pap smear
result. Both the husband and the wife were asked
if they/their husband were circumcised.

Discussion

Based on the data acquired, there

appears to be a pattern between women who
have cervical cancer and their partners being
uncircumcised. Through the swabs taken from the
men, we were able to observe that they do, in
fact, contain more bacteria and foreign bodies.
These results support the hypothesis that the
foreskin of uncircumcised men contains more
bacteria and viruses putting their partners at a
higher risk of contacting cervical cancer.
