The Cult of the American Privileged Class

This essay has been inspired by my beloved Sarah who has been an unfailing inspiration in the creation of it...

Stretching its strong arm throughout the world with the goal of having it its
own way, blessed with a messianic mandate to be always rightthat the
means justify the endsand perplexed why, for all its efforts, it has
accumulated untold numbers of enemies, the DisUnited States (DUS) is now
groping with the chaos it has fomented wherever it has gone since the ending
of World War II days. You can almost hear these deluded ones crybabying:
Why doesn't anyone love us?

Perhaps the most accurate question to ask is: Why don't Americans love
themselves? Here we have a nation deeply fragmented socially, economically,
and politically: red states, blue states, women against men, men against
women, infghting against infghting, ad infnitum. The rancor never ceases. It
is often vulgar and childish. Men and women are hugging their dogs and cats
rather than their wives and husbands, girlfriends and boyfriends, lovers. Many
Americans have escaped into the solace of their egos, and they are bosoming
the cushions of their self-centeredness or nihilistic notions or anti-social
reveries always hoping for better days that never come or that things will
eventually change but never do or thatheaven forbid!something very
drastic is about to again shock the whole world yet never does. What a hellish
way to subsist. America is devoid of an ethical core. This desperation to fnd
what it is supposed to do, is sapping the DUS of its vitality and self-
confdence.

If the DUS is a democratic nation, much has to be explained to show that it is.
The imbalance of wealth is astonishing, and that demonstrates that the DUS is
out of whack with its own peoplenot really great promotional material for
spreading the democratic variant of political theory throughout the planet.
The military-industrial complex, rolls when it wishes, wherever it wants to go.
The stock marketforever insistent in its fragilityand the fnancial system
favor those who are already well-to-do. Many Americans are furious about this
injustice, but they feel helpless, inadequate about doing anything to alter the
oligarchic-like fraud, this criminal organization, run amok, and referred to as
American Democracy.
My frst shocking realization of this dilemma, came to me when I returned
from Vietnam in August 1968, when I decidedafter ten days at hometo
escape New York and take off to Florida to fee the furor and frenzy of The Big
Applejust too much of what I had experienced in the jungles of the Central
Highlandsand embark on a permanent vacation away from the schizoid
America even, fnally, renouncing my citizenship to relieve myself of an
emotional burden, to get this monkey America off my back.

In Vietnam I never saw any of the editors of National Revieweven their

children. Nor congressmen or future congressmen, senators or future
senators, the sons of presidents of the Fortune 500, nor Harvard University
professors. Even Noam Chomsky, the guru of anti-Americanism, never served
in Vietnam, although he didmorally correctlyget arrested protesting the
Vietnam War not once letting his morality extend itself to the
misfortunate one who was assigned to take his place. My own brother
escaped from Vietnam duty, and he had been indoctrinated in a New York
city Jesuit military high school, St Francis Xavier. Donald Trump himself, a
graduate of another New York military high school, is said to have received six
deferments enabling him to escape Vietnamhe, too, not once thinking of
those individuals who had taken his place six times, and who could very well
have been poor, uneducated, unemployed youth, cannon fodder, very likely to
have been Afro-Americans (Where do you want to go, nigger? Jail or
Vietnam)!

But what really impressed me most was that one day, at the poolside of my
apartment complex in Hollywood Hills, Florida, when I met a University of
Miami law student, who, upon hearing I was a Vietnam veteran, piped this up:
I got out of Vietnam by taking a pill to raise my blood pressure at my
induction's physical exam! He was proud of that! And, unlike as many other
people have, he did not show the minimum interest in my Vietnam
experiencesto learn about something he did not know! I am certain he, and
Donald Trump, had not the least interest in knowing that soldiers in Vietnam
were supplied with junk rifes, defective artillery rounds, and World War II C-
rations. Yet they were interested to know that their shares in companies
feeding the military-industrial complex were skyrocketing beyond their belief.
Oh, my dear Americans, when are you going to wise up and realize your
Pentagon generals are criminal frauds but, above all, uncannily brainless!
I suppose we can talk about a two-tier or three-tier or four-tier American
political system, but it appears unlikely to me that we can talk about an
American democratic political phenomena. But why? Success in the DUS is
ultimately assessed on the basis of one's fnancial nimbleness. From the cradle
to the board room, individuals are unfaggingly being bombarded by what
bests money can buy: best food, doctors, schools, universities, computers,
vacations, lodgings, means of transport, ad infnitum. These children are not
taught to fend for themselves, because so many others are called into service
to attend to their needs and desires. A system belonging to a limited group
who offer veneration and devotion towards their oligarchic sense of
democracy, has ruled in America since its founding fathers set the tone for
this reprehensible method of ruling and depriving citizens of their basic
rights. From childhood to adulthood, spoiled brats and con artists are formed
to rule in power circles already fxed for them, and where they identify with
others who have received this perverse, anti-democratic upbringingfor the
beneft of Wall Street and the editors of the Harvard Business Review. I am
reminded of the Robber Baron John D Rockefeller who sent his fve sons to a
ranch out West each July and August for years to live the life of a rugged
cowboy slinging cow manure, repairing ranch fences, and waking at the crack
of dawnfor $.50 a week! Donald Trump is a typical victimthere are many!
of being a spoilt brat who all his life has been given whatever he wished,
and is a little monster who grew up to believe he could pay his way to get his
wayall the way up to the White House! He now is set in the perfect set-up
where his debilitating megalomania just might become so overbearing as he
falls from grace, they might have to cart him away in a straight-jacket. He has
already earned for himself the seriously mentally disturbed label, and
Americans still have not come to understand the harm he has effectuated and
will continue to do as he cavorts about helter-skelter embarrassing the DUS in
such a way, it will take decades and decades for it to recuperate the what little
integrity it had possessed with so many individuals, throughout the world,
now deriding and ridiculing America for having elected this incompetent.

There are thousands of Donald Trumps in the DUS waiting in the wings to
take over for DT if necessary. He is not the only modern-day Roman emperor
who is capable enough to lead the DUS to disaster. And they all, most likely
draft-dodgers, will surround themselves with dumbbell generals to give the
impression they are red, white and blue patriots. Like DT, they wouldn't even
know how to load a weapon or even use it. And why should they have to do
so? They can send young Americans all over the world to risk their lives for
the military-industrial complex while the cult members count the profts from
their stock investments. Mark my words: the next president of the DUS is not
going to go around with his jacket unbuttoned and his tie draped over his
potbelly.

I am of the opinion that deep down inside the psyches of the American
people, there is a perverted desire to keep Donald Trump in his saddle of fake
power. What better whipping boy exists for Americans to lay the blame for
their own pecados. Donald Trump is more than perfect for self-righteous
journalists and political commentators to let go their exaggerations of
exaggerations as they deceive the American people working hand and hand
with the disgraceful mob of DUS politicians. America, without these
privileged ones, would be like Italy without the Mafa. Who is going to keep
the Wheels of Greed and Corruption humming? Bernie Sanders and his wife
Jane, that little fat witch who reminds me of Nina Khrushchev? All Americans
beneft from the avarice and dishonesty in the American government and the
DUS business world, and to flter through to the kernel of American
hypocrisy, one only has to look at the Vietnam War protesters who, at the
end of the war, resorted, fipped, to being yuppies enjoying the profts that
that investment in a hostile action 13,000 miles from home afforded the
American people. Even editors of The Nation and The New Republic are
connivers in this nifty chicanery. It's the American way, dummy! Everyone is
doing it.

Eventually, enough of Donald Trump will be enough even for phony patriots
and fakers who call themselves loyal Americans. Thank you, Donald Trump,
you have corroborated for many Americans, and many, many foreigners that
the real meaning of this dupery going on is falsely acknowledged as
American Democracy!
