French President announces refugee

resettlement
French President Francois Hollande says France would take Syrian refugees from Lebanon and
increase its aid to the Middle Eastern country.

Lebanon hosts some 1.2 million Syrians fleeing conflict. Speaking at a news conference in Beirut,
Hollande also announced immediate military aid to Lebanon to bolster security of the region.

"I have decided that France must work on your side, and the French aid to the refugees in Lebanon
will be raised to 50 million euros this year and 100 million euros during the next three years. France
will work on a programme of resettlement of refugees, beginning with Lebanon with the cooperation
of the UNHCR, the High Commissioner for Refugees, in a way that we could confirm our
commitment that I took in the name of France in Europe for the repartition of refugees," he said.
