Supervisors Declaration
______________________
First of all, I am very much grateful to the Almighty Allah who gave blessings, courage and
ability to prepare this report. I am very much grateful to Md. Zainal Abedin, Lecturer,
for guiding me to complete my thesis report. I am also highly indebted to him for his suggestions
to prepare this report on Marketing & Promotional Activities of Qubee in Bangladesh.
It was really a great opportunity to work on this topic, and which is really an important and
exceptional report. Though I tried my level best, there are some limitations. My ultimate
constraint was time. If I could spend ample time, I could make it better.
At last, I am extremely sorry for my limitations and constraints that had impacted on the process
of making the report efficient and effective.
This report has been prepared as a requirement of the thesis program. The report was based upon
the Marketing & Promotional Activities of Qubee in Bangladesh. The topic of the report is
Marketing & Promotional Activities of Qubee in Bangladesh. The broad project objective was
to analyze the Marketing & Promotional Activities of Qubee in Bangladesh and relate the
knowledge with the practical experience. The report contains An overview about the
Marketing & Promotional Activities of Qubee in Bangladesh. QUBEE is a real internet
experience from Augere Holdings Ltd, a UK based telco bestowed with 150 years of vast
experience in this sector. And in Bangladesh this Wimax service is provided by Augere Wireless
Broadband Bangladesh Ltd.(AWBBL), a subsidiary of Augere Holdings Ltd. It is Augere that
first introduced much waited WiMax connectivity in Dhaka with a mission to deliver broadband
access to consumers on three fundamental tenets i.e. availability, affordability & accessibility. Its
initiation opened up a new horizon of mass internet connectivity and a window of new
possibility of reducing the digital divide. From the very beginning we have observed the
stunning marketing strategy to achieve the dominant position in the market. It targets the people
from every angle adopting a 360 marketing approach and aggressively pushing its product into
our market. And already it dares to claim to have a largest client base in the ISP arena. Even it
has gained 5 times higher market share to its closest competitor Banglalion with its competitive
pricing and innovative service plans. Its not only a magic but magical.
Strategically QUBEE aims at grabbing the emerging markets of Asia and Africa. Augere's first
commercial network launched under the Qubee brand in Pakistan in July 2009 and was closely
followed by Bangladesh in October 2009. A pilot network is currently being trialed in Uganda
with a view to a commercial launch, closely followed by Rwanda. This report also attempts to
identify some secrets of Direct Sales, the most robust and successful channel of QUBEE. It

1.1 Introduction of the Report:
Broad Objective:
11
1.3 Methodology:
Primary Data Source: This study was mainly based on primary data that was
collected through direct survey. To accomplish this, a questionnaire was developed that
consisted mainly closed-ended questions. Some data has been collected through unstructured
personal interviews and discussions with officials of Marketing & Promotional Activities of
Qubee in Bangladesh and also from the field visit.
Secondary Data Source: The secondary data have been collected through QUBEEs official
website, Aamra groups official website and other websites related to the report topic.
1.4 Limitations:
While doing the thesis program, I faced some obstacles. These are given below:-
Thesis report is one kind of research work. Research work requires enormous time and effort.
But the time provided to us was not enough to do the report.
Since my working subject is Marketing & Promotional Activities of Qubee in Bangladesh, its
prohibited to disclose some information. This affects the quality of the report.
Lack of experience of this type of project is one of the main constraints of the study.

2.1 Back Ground of the Organization:
Augere's first commercial network launched in Pakistan in July 2009 and was closely followed
by the Bangladesh network in October 2009 under the brand name QUBEE. Qubee is a new and
exciting company from Augere providing fast and reliable broadband internet services to
residential and business customers across Bangladesh. QUBEE believes that everyone should be
able to enjoy trouble-free access to the internet and the world of opportunities that it brings. The
companys aim is to make a magical internet experience available to everyone, everyday, without
exception.
Qubee is the creation of a group of global telecoms professionals who saw that a new technology
called WiMAX could really change the internet experience for millions of people worldwide.
WiMAX means that you dont need telephone lines or cable to get connected: all you need is to
live close enough to a transmitter to receive the internet wirelessly. Currently the company is
busy building a network of base stations to offer their brand of internet access right across
Bangladesh. Initially QUBEE is starting in Dhaka, but quickly plan to do the same in cities
nationwide.
To build a network like this needs to be done properly. So the company gathered a highly
talented team right here in Bangladesh to build a company thats determined to improve the
internet experience for millions of people not just here, but ultimately all over the world.
Mission of QUBEE:
We are just not making the internet work; were making it work beautifully. And now it can be
yours to enjoy.
Qubee is the real wireless broadband internet from Augere, an MNC incorporated in
Netherlands.
Qubee is the name of a commitment for high speed and uninterrupted internet experience for
users in Bangladesh.
It must be Magical: Its not about magic, its about being magical. Its about us bringing
delightful touches to the customer experience.
It must Work: Its not about troubling people with complicated solutions.
Qubee offer Fixed WiMAX service for Home & Business (SME) use.
Qubee product is differentiated by Speed ( 256 Kbps, 512 Kbps, 1 Mbps, 2 Mbps etc.)
Fixed Monthly Billing for Sky Packages ( 256 and 512 packages)
User Name & Password stored in Modem and connection Always On.

In this part of my report, I would like to share some basic functions of WiMAX which might
help you understand and how those works.

Marketing and Promotional Activities of Qubee in Bangladesh
Vision for the Future:
The internet has become an essential part of everyday life in the developed world. However,
the 'World Wide Web' is a misleading term. The internet has only a fledgling presence in
developing nations. Internet usage, as a percentage of the population in countries such as
Morocco, Russia, India, Indonesia, Pakistan and Nigeria range between 4 to 24%, well
below the levels of developed countries. From a social perspective, there is an intrinsic link
between education and the web. The benefits of investing in digital connectivity and promoting
access in schools and universities are clear.
QUBEE believes that delivering the above is achievable by developing strong local partnerships
and building local companies with empowered local management.

sky has no access limitation so its a bit higher in price, and for campus

As the employee gets the above motivations from the organization so employees always
try to put hundred percent efforts to their job. This increases the productivity of the
organization.
In the beginning, Qubee was assigned to a sales team where do lots of activities.
Qubee arrange an extensive training session for us. This was really effective for
because Qubee product knowledge was poor when new joined in Qubee. After
getting the proper training he became more confident.
Back at office, Qubee executive to make a report on the specific client and their
requirements. It was mandatory to send a regular visit report to Qubee supervisor.
Visit report contains customer name, address, contact number, e-mail address,
whether he is interested or not, if not then what is the reason and so on. He look
after visit report. Those who were interested customer he tries to close the
sale as soon as possible.
Every day morning, our whole direct Sales team used to sit together and made
plan for the day. There were 12 Sales Executives and we had a sales target to
meet. For one week, the whole team needed 60 Clients to meet the goal. Our
supervisor usually provides the Potential list of clients, and we had to make
appointments with them. Then we had to visit the clients office and sit with them
to close the sales deal.

Dhaka and 2 in Chittagong) and the total number of users ranges around
100,000, while in 2000, there are about 100 ISPs providing Internet services to
more than 250,000 Internet home users. More than 100000 people used Internet
from cyber caf. The growing demand of the society and the congenial global
atmosphere towards Internet has pressurized the entrepreneurs to re-think their
policies and strategies to accommodate the newly emerged rapidly enlarging
target group. Now days, Internet is used for studies, mailing and online shopping.
It may help the advertising or marketing promotion sector to be efficient and
effective. Another point is that the optical fiber has already introduced in
Bangladesh which makes our communication faster and cheaper. This will also
change the business environment. WiMAX is also introduced in Bangladesh.
QUBEE and BanglaLion have got the license and QUBEE has started their
42
Marketing and Promotional Activities of Qubee in Bangladesh
operation already. QUBEEs motto is to provide access to internet for everyone.
From middle to upper class people are fond of leading a modern life because it
makes the life faster, speedy, complicated and efficient. We can hope, through
WiMAX, Bangladesh can achieve sustainable growth in the near future.
5.2 Risk adjusted rate: Different industry have different risk level. In pure competitive
market risk varies from firm to firm. Michael E. Porter developed a model called Porters five
forces model to analyze industries and competitors. Porter identified five competitive forces that
shape every single industry and market. These forces help us to analyze everything from the
intensity of competition to the profitability and attractiveness of an industry.
43
Marketing and Promotional Activities of Qubee in Bangladesh
Threat of new entrants: The easier it is for new companies to enter the industry, the more
competition there will be. Internet service providing company does not require a huge
investment. So it is very easy to enter into internet business. There are some telecommunication
companies in our country like Grameen Phone, Banglalink, Airtel, Robi, Teletalk, Citycel etc.
These telecommunication companies are also providing internet services. In future some other
companies may start internet business. This is a threat for Qubee.
Bargaining power of buyer: Qubee buyers can easily switch to another product as
switching cost is few. They have a large number of buyers around the country. Customers are
price sensitive. As a result they can force prices down and demand higher quality products or
services resulting in potential loss of profit which is a threat for Qubee.
Bargaining power of supplier: Suppliers can influence a companys products price and
quality. Qubee is free from suppliers power but their technology suppliers can exercise this
power at any time which is a major risk for Qubee.
Competitive Rivalry: This describes the intensity of competition between existing firms in
an industry. Highly competitive industries generally earn low returns because the cost of
competition is high. There are little differences between competitors products and services with
Qubee. This increases Qubees risk. High fixed cost, Low switching costs, slow market growth
etc. are competitive rivalry for Qubee which increases amount of risk level.
Due to above mentioned risks I have increased required rate of return by 3%.

7.1 Thesis Experience:
The biggest challenge is that to keep patience, show professionalism, sincerity and maturity
which were very challenging for me to practice all these in real life workplace.

& Conclusion

8.1 Recommendation:
QUBEE could offer more product packages with variable features: to compete
the other broadband companies. Like: Banglalion has more product variation than QUBEE. More
product variation helps a company to be unique. Even it creates threats to competitors if they try
to challenge the company. Even Banglalion has more product variation than QUBEE has. So,
they should offer more product packages with variable features.
QUBEE should highlight about country of origin (they bought modem from
GERMAN) while promoting product: because Bangladeshi consumers has strong faith
over foreign product. It will help QUBEE to have a lime light over their product price and
quality as well.
sensitive market. At present consequence, it has seen QUBEE has high price. If
QUBEE wants to continue with this price they should focus over their quality
QUBEE should offer some discount for existing users to create brand loyalty:
Like: discount over uses.
QUBEE should concern more about their competitors: I agree at present they
might not have any rival, but Bangladesh broadband market is not so large so they
should be more innovate about their product and aware about their competitors
(Banglalion and BRAC Net)
QUBEE should more concentrate on CSR activities: At present they are not
doing CSR activities. To build up their brand loyalty and customers they should
come up with some CSR activities.
8.2 Conclusion:
QUBEE is a new and exciting company in Bangladesh. Aamra networks are the local partner of
QUBEE in Bangladesh. QUBEE, the foreign partner of Aamra networks who brought WiMAX
for the first time in Bangladesh. Due to new executive technical competencies and sales
experience he got this opportunity to work as a sales executive in QUBEE. Just after a month of
my thesis, There was an opening that time back at QUBEE and he grab the opportunity. During
this period, He learned a lot about QUBEE and its sales operation and Strategy. In this report, I
tried to describe the operation and function of QUBEEs different sales channel. I observe the
activities of Marketing & Promotional Activities of Qubee in Bangladesh and present my
observation and suggestions regarding Marketing & Promotional Activities of Qubee in
Bangladesh.
